“Great value”
I make at least one visit each winter to NOTL and almost always stay at the Best Western. The winter rooms are extremely reasonable, breakfast is always included, and the service is friendly. It's a little off the beaten path, but in winter there's no trouble finding a place to park. I'll be back next year!
“Great value.”
We stayed at this hotel between Christmas and New Year 2008. On arrival we were greeted with a professional and friendly welcome. We were able to check in in a speedy manner with offers of restaurant menus to peruse for dinner that evening and help with our PC if we encounterd any problems connecting. (we didnt encounter any!) We were also offered use of the hotels computer located in the lobby if needed. The room was very welcoming with fresh paint on the walls and appeared to be very clean, with fresh comforters on the beds. Breakfast was fine, with a decent selection to choose from. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. I would choose this hotel in the future over some of the pricier B@Bs in this rather expensive area.
“Loved it”
The hotel was small, clean and very quiet with a nice continental breakfast. We were well pleased.
“great rate for a clean place”
The Colonel Butler Best Western is a bit off the beaten track in Niagara on the Lake, reequiring a very short car trip to the center of the village. I have previously stayed at hotels that would allow me to walk to the theatres and shops in the center of the village. It is only about a 5 or 10 minute drive. Since it was April, parking was not an issue but I am not sure the same could be said during hte height of season. The accomodations were comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included in the room rate. It is held in a very small room which was extremely crowded when I went down for breakfast. I had to wait for a few minutes to get a place to sit, wait to use the toaster, and wait for the staff to replenish the supply of yogurt. Despite that, the variety of offerings at this breakfast is impressive ( bagels, breads for toasting, a waffle iron with batter in cups, fresh fruit, cereals, juices, yogurts and more ). The room rate was quite reasonable in comparison to other more "cushy" hotels in Niagara on the Lake. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend a stay there to anyone.
“Canada's Finest”
This hotel recieved two and a half stars on Expedia and it really deserves four! In true Canadian fashion the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, with an extra sink and large bottles of complementary shampoo and conditioner (which smelled lovely) as well as coffee and a good selection of tea. The breakfast included with the room was excellent and even included a waffle making station! In the summer this hotel would be a very easy walk to central Niagara-on-the-Lake, shopping and all the Shaw Fest theaters.
“Nice, clean, budget hotel with friendly staff”
Stayed one night. Fairly basic room, but had everything we needed and was clean and well maintained. Front desk staff were friendly and happy to give directions and maps. Reasonable breakfast included in the price.
“Great hotel for the Shaw”
Easily within walking distance to mainstreet (less than a mile) and the staff is very nice. Rooms, though not glamourous, are very clean and tidy. Great value for the area.
“Comfortable, economic and very pleasant - Recommended”
This Best Western hotel offers straightforward and very pleasant accommodation, in an attractive 2-storey modern colonial-style building. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the main shopping street, Queen St, and it's the same distance to the Common and historic Fort George, by the Niagara River. Niagara on the Lake is a pretty, residential, and very historic township in a stunning location. My family and I stayed here for two nights, as a base for visiting the Falls but also with time to explore this town as well. We had one room with two queen beds, which included all the basic amenities, but without much wardrobe space. The hotel offers inclusive breakfast, which is "continental" but includes scrambled egg, sausage-patties (burgers) and self-cook hot waffles with a selection of toppings (Yum!). Next to (and part of) the hotel is the Butler Sports Bar & Grill. This bar-diner is used by local working folk and may look a bit uninspiring at first but believe me, my family and I had two of the best lunch-time meals of our holiday there. The ladies who run it were really friendly, the pizza was divine and the wings with homemade Blue Cheese dip were out of this world! Meals can be charged to your room. We would certainly stay at the Colonel Butler again.
“Exceeded expectations”
The hotel itself was great, very welcoming. It included breakfast and internet connection which is really good. I had trouble with my laptop so was able to use the complimentary computer in the lobby. It was a ten minute walk to the main street, but it was a lovely walk and we did not feel that it was a hindrance. Cake shop across the road is worth a visit. Really nice alternative to the tourism of Niagara istself. Call a cab from St. Catherines to get back is cheaper than local (desk will give you all the local numbers). Christmas shop in main street is worth a visit.
“a quality Motel / exceptional breakfast”
The staff was very courteous and helpful. The motel was clean inspite of the ice and snow we brought in on our shoes. This is a small, cozy place in a town that is a summer resort near Niagara Falls.
