This was the best hotel I’ve stayed in in my life. I came here for the first time to Chicago and me and my girl. Upon arrival they gave us a complementary room upgrade. Where are they doing that at so as you can see, I am very happy with our stay so I will recommend this hotel to anybody and I think we might even come back here again. You know any they have good amenities

While the staff was very helpful—stored our bags for us due to our early arrival—it was obvious to us that this property was dated and needed a complete overhaul. The waiting/front desk area was very small. There was no such thing as a lobby. Need a snack? a cup of coffee? No such thing existed. Of course I do not expect such things to always be complementary; however if I wanted a snack or cup of coffee I had to go off site. Nora's, the onsite restaurant, had a nice menu, but it was very noisy. Its entrance from the "lobby" was practically hidden. Our room was nice but small. Not much space to store two pieces of luggage out of the way to avoid tripping on them in the night. No night light of any kind to help find the bathroom in the middle of the night. But at least I could make a cup of coffee. Hotels are now switching to daily housekeeping by request. I understand that this is a cost saving measure; most hotels will gladly offer an extxra towel, new soap, etc., as needed. However in the St Clair, at least for our room, there was only one towel rack in the bathroom and it was over the toilet. No place to hang a bath towel to allow it to dry, fresh towels a must. There was no sign in our room, nor at the check in desk, stating that housekeeping is only done by request. The phone in the room was not marked to inform the user which button to press to get housekeeping, the front desk, etc. To make matters worse, when we tried to use the phone, no dial tone, all static.
