Great exotic place.

We stayed at Hotel Casona del Colegio from July 9–14 and overall had a wonderful stay. This charming boutique hotel is beautifully decorated with lots of character. Our room with a private balcony and hot tub was spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect—within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping, bars, and many attractions. Despite being in the heart of Cartagena, we slept very well. A few issues kept this from being a 5-star stay. I noticed two small roaches in our room and also during our last two days, there was no running water during the day, and for one full night. After spending our days on island tours, we returned hot and sandy but couldn’t shower for hours. We understand things happen, but better communication and some type of accommodation or discount would have been appreciated. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel for its beautiful atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and unbeatable location.

We stayed at Getsemaní Hotel in March and had a wonderful overall experience. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and in an excellent location. We were able to walk to so many incredible restaurants, attractions, and neighborhoods, making it easy to explore Cartagena on foot. One thing that really stood out was the front door staff. They were always friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and eager to help with recommendations, transportation, or anything we needed. Their hospitality made us feel right at home. The only downsides were that there was construction taking place right on the corner during our stay, which created some noise, although that's obviously outside of the hotel's control. My biggest suggestion for improvement would be the pool and bar experience. There didn't seem to be enough staff available, so service was slower than expected. It would also be nice if music started earlier by the pool. Guests relaxing poolside at 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. should be able to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with music rather than waiting until later in the day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend Getsemaní Hotel. The beautiful property, outstanding location, and exceptional hospitality from the staff made it a memorable stay. With a few improvements to the pool experience, it would easily be a five-star hotel.

The room was lovely; large, clean, well appointed with all the amenities would would expect from a 5* hotel Check in was the strangest check in I have ever experienced, we arrived to ridiculously long queues and instead of inviting people to sit, maybe with a welcome drink, we all stood in these queues for nearly half an hour. The check in itself took nearly 15mins with a whole series of forms which, in my opinion could have been pre-sent by email or done on an iPad away from the main check in desks. Even with the extensive check in; the staff didn’t give some important information, including the fact that you needed to make reservations for dinner in the hotel restaurants… the first night we almost didn’t eat because of this!! Breakfast was very good, so many options, great coffee and freshly cooked egg station. A couple of things to note, each time you sign something to your room they add 10% service… in addition to this, upon checkout they add an additional ‘resort fee’ to your invoice (for us it was another £30 per night) … we queried this and subsequently asked for it to be removed, but it seemed strange that it had been added in the first place as this was never mentioned during check in either.

We are in loved with the Santa Clara hotel. Beautiful and amazing staff. Cared for us so well, we have no complains about the hotel in general. And the food was amazing! We were pampered from day one until the last minute we spend in there. So proud of cartageneros and the great job they are doing.
