Small outdated rooms.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Ansonborough. It's a really interesting building. It's clearly an old warehouse that was adapted to a new use. It's centrally located to conference spaces and other downtown Charleston spots. My room was very clean, the breakfast was great.

For $700 a night, a guest should at least be able to sleep. Upon checking in, we were assigned Room 301 (located directly beneath the kitchen and breakfast area) and immediately heard loud commotion from above. We asked the front desk if the noise would be a problem during the morning breakfast rush, but they simply said "maybe" but claimed no other rooms were available to move us to. AND to call in the morning if its an issue. Sure enough, the heavy noise started incredibly early and was relentlessly persistent all morning long, making it absolutely impossible to sleep. When we raised our concern later that morning, the staff (different from the night before) openly admitted that the severe noise is a "well-known issue" specifically affecting rooms 301 and 302 (and that they are still trying to figure out how to fix it). Knowingly charging a premium rate for a defective room is completely unacceptable. Since checking out, I have requested 4 separate times to speak with a manager. Each time, the front desk apologizes and promises a callback, yet I hear absolutely nothing. Whether management is actively ignoring messages or the front desk isn't passing them along, this level of customer service is a total disgrace and completely unacceptable for this price.
