Teddy is the reason my family will be coming back—and why I’ll recommend the InterContinental at The Wharf to anyone visiting the area. The hotel is lovely and convenient, the rooms spacious and clean, and the staff warm and helpful. But Teddy took hospitality to another level. My kids came back from an epic concert STARVING at 11:30 on a Sunday night. I shuffled down to the lobby in my pajamas, hoping to find a bag of chips or something to keep the teenagers alive until morning. I found Teddy and asked if he knew anywhere I could still get food. He said, “Pizza and pasta okay? Follow me. I’ll take you to where we go.” And he did! He walked me down the block to a lively Italian place I never would have found on my own, went inside, and made sure they would take care of me. Then he disappeared back into the night like the angel he was. Within 15 minutes, I was back at the hotel with pizzas. I’d never been to The Wharf and had no idea where I was or what might still be open. Teddy could have simply pointed me in a direction. Instead, he immediately took it upon himself to solve my problem and literally walked me to the solution. That is hospitality. The beautiful hotel may have gotten us there the first time. Teddy is the reason we’ll come back.

Loved the location - walked to restaurants and bars; loved the happy hour and the food! Great stay for 6?-adults!!

The staff was excellent: bellman, receptionists, waiters. They account for the rating of excellent. The room was attractive and well furnished but oddly, no tea maker, just the kind of coffee that uses wasteful plastic cups in a little machine. They will, however, provide a kettle but the plug will go in an outlet near the floor and the wire is short so anticipate bending way over. The restaurant was also attractive, and the food was remarkably good; we don't always expect that in a hotel. What was NOT GOOD was a high "amenity fee" for things that we didn't use, unless internet access (free in every other hotel we've stayed in in the USA and Europe) was part of it. It is shockingly expensive. Once the hotel has bought exercise machines which I suppose are in the fitness room, and raised hotel rates to amortize the purchase, there's no need to have an amenity fee for that, either. And so on. Shame on the greedy owners! And I don't think the fee was on the Expedia website, either. If it wasn't, shame on Expedia for concealing the outrageous charge.

This was (I believe) our fourth stay the DC Jefferson. The rooms are beautiful, and more important to us, the friendly, prompt, and courteous service is fantastic. We are always greeted by EVERYONE with a welcoming smile. I actually threw a birthday party for my wife earlier this year and Golnaz was extraordinarily helpful and accommodating. We'll be back next year!
