This Hotel is right in the middle of everything! The rooms are spectacular and the staff makes you feel great.

Very small room and small bed, definitely not for 2 people. There is no parking included which is what I was looking for when filtering on expedia. Parking is either valet 50$ or overnight stay to a parking next door not affiliated which is also around 50$. The airconditioning and the fridge were extremely loud and I had to disconnect them. This is def not a 4 stars hotel unless I got the worst room of the hotel.

This little gem of a place is tucked right into a perfect area of downtown Charleston. Ten steps from King Street, right across from the pottery barn and lots of other great stores. We are local and I took my daughter for a night downtown to see the fireworks. We had so much fun. Our room was a full one bedroom apartment, complete with kitchen and washer/dryer. My daughter said she wants to live there. So neat and clean and comfortable. I also picked up a few decorating ideas from the hotel. The tile in our bathroom was super cute. We've stayed downtown quite a few times and this was our favorite by far.

The staff was helpful but the hotel is not up to date. It feels old and dusty. Not of the expected standards of the Relais and Chataeu hotel chain.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would gladly return. The property made a great first impression with its beautiful entrance, friendly staff, and smooth check-in. Despite visiting during the busy Fourth of July weekend, bell service was prompt, and the staff was welcoming and informative. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, with blackout drapes and convenient push-button room controls. The pool deck and bar were excellent, and housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. I was also impressed with how clean the entire property was, including the hallways, elevators, and carpeting. The only area for improvement was the air conditioning. While it worked well during the day, it was inconsistent overnight. Even with the thermostat set to 65°F, the room often felt warmer than expected, and the unit occasionally made noticeable noise. Ice delivery was also a little slow but always arrived. One thing future guests should be aware of is the additional daily fees. The $40 resort fee and $62 overnight parking charge add significantly to the overall cost of the stay. Overall, the outstanding service, cleanliness, comfortable accommodations, and amenities far outweighed the minor issues. We would definitely recommend this property and would happily stay here again.

What a beautiful extended 4th of July weekend stay at The Dewberry. We arrived just after 11am and only had to wait another hour before our room was ready - well before the standard 4pm check-in. Our room was clean and wonderful. We did notice that it was quite warm in there, but we just assumed that it needed some time to cool down. The following day, the room had not cooled down, and we called Guest Services to advise them of the air conditioning issue. Within minutes, someone was there to check on the A/C. Turns out the freon was leaking so they immediately moved us. Not only did we get a new room, but we also received a complimentary upgrade to a suite and were sent over two bottles of Spanish cava for the inconvenience. This was very thoughtful. We had lunch in The Living Room on our last full day and after the waiter took our order, he came back to inform me that they were out of the dish that I had selected (salmon) and I went ahead and chose a different salad with shrimp. A lovely lady (a manager, I'm assuming) came over to apologize for not catching this issue earlier because they were down two chefs in the kitchen and advised me that they were going to comp my dish from the check. This was unexpected and very kind of the staff. Needless to say, the customer service here was impeccable. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and would come back here for 5-star accommodations and service.

Check-in process was frustrating. Parking is limited. There was trash in my room left from a previous guest. They advertise a beach shuttle but make sure if you’re not getting picked up at a specific time that you call early, they don’t always answer the phone or check their voicemail. Then when the front desk employee finally picked up the phone, she said another couple had just called and she’d pick me up next, and while I was still talking she hung up on me so I ended up just walking back. My last day there, another employee tried to make me squeeze onto the shuttle with another couple, I said everyone else has made us ride separately and I don’t mind waiting, she said ok, but then when she got back she said she had to hand wash a huge stack of dishes before we left?! The beach chair they gave me was dirty and the pillow had black mold growing on it. The breakfast was ok but it starts late at 0800. Happy hour includes things like Natural Light beer. It’s a bit dingy, grimy, and rundown; my bathroom shelf was totally falling off the wall. There’s like no counter space either. There was a lot of accumulated filth around the door etc. (pics). The alarm clock just wasn’t plugged in which was weird and annoying, why even leave it there with no accessible plug? They use the super cheap, single-use motel toiletries so I’d bring your own. You can hear everything in the hallways and people just stood outside my room talking. I would not stay here again or recommend staying here.

The online pictures make the hotel and its common spaces look better than it is in person. The upholstery on the dining benches is dirty, I had to move my seat. Also, it’s hard to find staff, or get anyone on the phone at the front desk and for room service. I saw many employees on their phones. For the room, the bed was comfortable, room was spacious, but it’s all hardwood with no rug and the shower couldn’t stay at one temperature for very long. Small fridge in the room, which is good if you need that. Overall, I felt like a bunch of distracted kids were running the place; I wouldn’t recommend when there are so many other places to stay. Leave this one to the kids.
