This is a character/heritage building with a beautiful history. It is also situated right on the waterfront with excellent & walkable proximity to downtown restaurants, art galleries & shops. Beautiful views of the bay from the spacious room. The room was not overtly dirty but the hotel is so completely run down that it is impossible to get it anywhere near clean. The grout in our bathroom was filthy & all of the furniture…dressers, drawers & cabinets were broken. We were staying in a suite with all of the furniture worn out & sofas covered with questionable slip covers. Despite being 2 people in our room, there were only towels/linens provided for 1 & we had to ask for more each day. We also had to request toilet paper & extra blankets & there weren’t enough pillows or any extras available in the room except for the grubby throw pillows on the sofa. The entire hotel from hallways to rooms needs a massive update & major repairs. On the positive side, it was cleaned as well as could be expected given the run down state of the building. The location & views were unbelievably wonderful. Also a huge plus was the staff! All of the staff we encountered, from security to housekeeping staff to the restaurant servers & especially the front desk staff were AMAZING!!!!! Food in the restaurant was good & quick. An extra special shout out to server Randy & front desk clerk Serena, both of whom made up for the failings of the accommodations with their kindness, knowledge & attentiveness.

The people were friendly and professional. The complimentary breakfast was quite extensive and nicely prepared and we enjoyed having a small kitchenette as part of our spacious room. We felt the $50 pet fee for our small hypoallergenic pup to be excessive, especially since they did not cater to dogs to justify the charge. There were no accessories provided (bowls, bed, treats) and the bag dispensers for dog waste on the property were all empty. This “pet” peeve aside, our stay was quite enjoyable.
