Highly recommend! Would stay again!

We have just had a 3 night stay at the Hotel and it was lovely. When we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and gave us a brief tour, when our room was ready we were again escorted there by a member of reception. The room was a great size with a small patio area overlooking the lush gardens. We had dinner in the restauarant on our first night, which was excellent, service was impeccable. We used the bar a couple of times, loving the idea that we got to choose our "Happy Hour", we also ate in the Bar on 2 occasions and again the food was excellent. Breakfast was very good with a great slection of food.The Hotel is very traditional and has a lot of character, we will hopefully return one day and would recommend to anyone who would like to be within 15 mins of the centre of Funchal but still stay in a "little oasis".

Great location with direct access to the sea. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms are beautiful and breakfast buffet has a wide selection to choose from. Overall highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break and treat for something special.

We checked in Thursday morning and had a lovely side sea view. Unfortunately, there was confusion over breakfast. We booked through Expedia believing it was included, but were told it wasn't. Expedia blamed the room type, although the hotel manager confirmed this was incorrect. Two other guests also told us they had experienced exactly the same issue with Expedia. If booking through Expedia, double-check what is included. On Friday, we requested fresh towels, water and ice, but despite several calls, these were delayed and the ice was forgotten. Breakfast itself was excellent, with a great selection and very good quality. I would love to see iced matcha available too. The hotel grounds and pool are beautiful, with lovely views. However, the gym is extremely disappointing for such a large hotel. It is tiny, poorly equipped, the weights only go to 10kg, and the mats are ripped and slippery. With six people inside, there wasn't enough space to exercise comfortably. At around 9:45pm, room service was brought to our room despite us not ordering it, so room numbers should be checked before disturbing guests late at night. A big positive was the manager, who went out of his way to locate my daughter's Lululemon jumper and my missing clothes. His help was excellent and much appreciated. Overall, beautiful hotel and grounds, excellent breakfast and wonderful views, but there are clear areas for improvement, particularly the Expedia breakfast issue.

A wonderful, relaxing stay. Beautiful view from our balcony. Room well presented, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfasts tasty and fresh. Enjoyed swimming every day. Friendly staff. Interesting gardens. We didn't try the onsite restaurants in the evening - there were plenty of decent choices nearby. Funchal old town is just a 5 euro taxi drive away. All the activities we had pre-booked came and picked us up from the hotel. We'll definitely be back.
