Property was nice but there is either a lack of attention to detail or they are purposely ignoring the details like- black and dirty railings as you enter the beach club side of the property, dead bugs in the elevator lights, ceiling lights in the room did not work so we had to use the 2 lamp lights, one elevator was broken when we got there and was not repaired for 3 days, the staff there seemed totally disengaged - they weren't rude but just ignored our presence when we were around them. The room view and balcony saved our stay.

Staff is great. Lobby is nice. Location is great. But rooms are terrible. Small, dirty, carpeted, and extremely outdated. Bathroom is awful.

Although the location is great and the hotel is a premier boutique, we had several significant issues with our stay that need to be brought up. The hotel is not cheap so I think it’s important to point out the failures. We liked the rooms but there were some very quirky things happening with the overhead fans & wall switches. For whatever reason, we kept having issues with the fan randomly turning off altogether or the speed would increase throughout the night/overnight. 3 of 4 nights, the light just flat out turned on overnight which abruptly woke us up. Additionally, the room was at times warm. Outside of this, we are very disappointed in the hotel staff and how they handled my wife getting hurt at their ‘spa’ or ‘pool’ whichever they are trying to call it. The one single time we went to use the facility, my wife fell on one of the many loose tiles and ripped up her big toe. It is absolutely unacceptable and a serious liability that the ‘pool’ tiles (large square concrete tiles) were loose. There is no way this is new. We hadn’t even gotten in the ‘pool’ and instead were walking around the pool to get in where the steps were. The staff did nothing for us and ‘checked in on us’ moments after the incident but never once again. Prior to this, we had been walking all around Charleston each day during our stay so this put a material hamper on our trip. Lastly, the hotel had power issues while we were there and the room/upstairs bar were affected which was far from ideal.

Very well appointed, clean, well staffed historical property right in the heart of the historic district. Extremely close to worthwhile horse drawn carriage rides and shopping galore at the famed city market and small street side shops. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, plentiful and fresh! The staff were so friendly for breakfast and afternoon cheeses & wine, also complimentary! Valet service went beyond plus the bicycle taxis were also readily available and reasonable.
