Beautiful surroundings, the cottage we stayed in was spacious, well kept and ideal for a relaxing break. During most of our stay the onsite restaurant was closed but there are great local options available. The only downside was the pool area was looking a little tired with the jacuzzi and a shower in the changing area out of service. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our time here.

Townhouse was within walking distance of the train station and bus stops. Slightly larger walks to the Royal Mile but doable. Nice shops nearby too. Our room was pretty but a bit small. We stayed in the St. Mary’s. It was a nice stay.

The room was spacious yet cozy, clean, and very well appointed. The bed was so comfortable. The staff were warm, courteous, friendly, and helpful. The restaurant was also excellent.

Bit awkward for those who do not care for lifts.

Lovely hotel, excellent staff. The hotel contacted us prior to our arrival to check our estimated arrival time…. I don’t think the reception desk is manned full time, so this is a smart way to ensure there is someone there to meet you. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Our room was on the very top floor so it was quite a climb, however the offer to help with luggage was there. Being an old building, there’s no lift, so this isn’t the place for you if you have mobility issues! We arrived slightly early and fortunately our room was ready, so we were able to check in right away. The room was clean and spacious- the sofa bed for our 12 year old was already made up. L’Occitane toiletries in the bathroom were a lovely touch, plus bottled water in the fridge too. Coffee machine, kettle, biscuits etc all there for us. The bathroom was clean and modern, with lovely fluffy towels. Surprisingly there was housekeeping even though we were only there for 2 nights. Breakfast was really nice….. a buffet style continental plus cooked options made fresh to order. Everything was lovely and well presented. Again the staff in the breakfast room were lovely. We received a message before we left asking for our approximate departure time, again I assume to ensure the desk was manned. Very smooth checkout process. We were able to leave our luggage to enable us to explore the city on our last day without carting bulky cases around with us. Would absolutely recommend.

Great location, though a small trek from the train station- plan your abilities accordingly. Staff were lovely and it was cute! You do need to be able to walk up stairs with luggage. I wouldn't recommend this for folks with physical difficiluties or little ones. For us with our teens, it was perfect! Also right by "diagon alley" should you be an HP fan.
