Check-in was at 15:00, room wasn’t actually ready until 15:55, which is unacceptable after a long trip with kids. Young lady at the front desk didn’t seem bothered. In their manic rush to prep the room, “cleaning” seems to have consisted of spraying copious amounts of cloying air freshener everywhere, then leaving the window open to dissipate the haze. Problem was we were on the first (European) floor, just above the food dumpsters, so the effect was potpourri on poo. Ibis used to be an alright mid-low choice, but increasingly they’re shabby, unprofessional, and disorganized. Look elsewhere.

This is a delightful, totally renovated hotel conveniently located in the center of Old Town. It was formerly the residence of a Swiss artist and his artwork is displayed in hallways and on the staircases. Our room was spacious, great beds with lovely linens, spacious bathroom, robes, slippers, etc. A very nice breakfast was available in the adjoining restaurant (it is a very popular spot for traditional Swiss fondu and raclette - be sure to have reception reserve a table for you in advance). Our room was on the courtyard side overlooking several restaurants patios. On Saturday there is a small vendor market with a few musicians but not bothersome. Rooms overlooking the street will experience lively/noisy late evening/nighttime activity on weekends especially in good weather. A few caveats: Ubers cannot come into the Old Town so it is advisable to take a taxi (very expensive). The front door to the hotel is on a sloped cobblestone side street so your luggage could roll down hill if you are not careful. Also, there is no doorman or assistance getting your luggage up the 5 or so steps from the street into the hotel. No ramp.
