Just excellent all around

Hits and misses: Hits: The outside looks great and the front desk staff was excellent. Very welcoming and explained things well. Only parking is Valet but was worth it as street parking is limited. As others have said the hotel is being renovated so there's some construction going on in the main areas (they state that up front when you make a reservation). Our room was good size and the bed comfortable. There was some wear and tear but it's an old hotel so don't expect new. There are some areas (bathroom) that needed general maintenance. Misses: The bar and restaurant staff could use some assistance or training. We tried the bar but ended up leaving and just going into town. We came back for dinner (we had reservations). The regular dining room is under construction so the current dining room is a back up. It's near the dishwashing area and you could hear people arguing back there. Not the atmosphere you want trying to enjoy a moderately pricey (for us anyway) anniversary dinner. The food though was fine. I'd go back to Cliff House if/when they work out some of the kinks.

Great stay!

Amazing location, close to everything. Lovely 'extras' like free ice cream across the way. The room was very well maintained and so unique. Only thing was that there was only one tiny window, my assumption had been that we would have been able to see into the train station. Anyway, a very good experience.

Excellent stay !!! Our cottage was perfect and met all of our needs. Super quiet location. We were 1.5 miles from the shops and food. The location couldn’t have been better. We asked for towels and extra coffee. Was at our door when we got back from a long day. Excellent value. Excellent and professional host / owner customer service. We plan on sharing this location with our friends and family.
