I had a terrace room and the door wouldn't open, no matter how many ways I tried. I didn't complain but told them on my way out. These things should be checked daily. Other than that, all good. (745 reviews) During our recent stay in London at Taj 51, we had a fabulous visit - attentive and friendly staff, an impeccably clean suite, and wonderful food. We have visited Taj every year for the past five years and continue to be impressed. This visit, however, we will remember for the events after our visit ended. When we sadly left Taj we moved to the Trafalgar Square area to a different hotel, and the horror started. Our assigned room was dirty, dated, and the toilet didn't flush. We immediately asked to be moved to another room, but the front desk said no rooms were available. We said the toilet didn't work and they sent three men who stood around while one of them tried to fix the toilet, resulting in a temporary fix. This was unacceptable. My wife was especially furious. She cried on the bed and wouldn't talk to me. I suggested we head for the bar across the street to strategize what to do next. Desperately I called Taj to try to save my marriage. The reservations agent gladly welcomed our return to Taj and asked us to arrive immediately. With our spirits lifted we left the bar and exited the terrible hotel. Arriving at Taj a concierge and bellman were waiting to carry our luggage to our suite along with my wife, her faith in humanity restored. We luxuriated and were pampered for the next 5 nights, enjoying the superb staff, service, food, and suite. We are forever grateful for the Taj team coming to our rescue. The rest of our stay was excellence. We will return very soon! (439 reviews) This is a beautiful hotel close to Earls Court tube making it easy to get around London. The decor is beautiful and would consider staying again in the summer as the garden is lovely. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and were delighted to receive a room upgrade snd be able to check in even though we were 4 hours before usual check in time. The room was lovely. Unfortunately we found the bed too hard for us which impacted our nights sleep but I don’t blame the hotel (everyone is different ☺️). There was some confusion about bar opening times - we were originally told it was 7-10:30pm but we later discovered it’s open all afternoon and one evening when we got back after 10:30, the bar staff kindly served us. The two bar guys were very friendly and very knowledgeable- we enjoyed their advice on Tequila. My only real area of criticism was the breakfast and the lady manager at breakfast. My first day I asked for sourdough toast and poached egg and despite the restaurant being very quiet, if was cold when it arrived. Also I ordered a flat white which I had to chase and it wasn’t brought until after I’d eaten my breakfast. Mostly though, we found the restaurant manager to be very rude. She never smiled (apart from when joking with the chef and other staff) and my husband spoke to her the second day to ask for some toast on the pass which hadn’t been delivered with his breakfast, and she looked at him and promptly turned away to greet some new guests in to the restaurant. (672 reviews) Our stay at the Capital hotel was wonderful. Traveled with a 3yo toddler and my mom, which were their first time in London. Our room was the 1 bedroom. It was spacious and incredibly clean. The kitchen was well stocked and there’s even a washer and dryer. The location was fantastic as it was only a few steps from Harrods’ and the area was well located to get to all the attractions with the buses. Walking distance to the National and Science museums. We stayed for 4 nights and were very comfortable. Best of all were the staff. They were very accommodating especially with a toddler and assisted with every request. My daughter wanted olives at breakfast and they made her so happy with olives each morning. Or magically appeared with crayons and coloring books when she only mentioned it to me mere seconds before if she could color but I didn’t have any with us. The staff were really exceptional.
