"Cabin has a bad smell (note on wall stated it was recently varnished but did not have this smell). Shower went hot then cold on and off which made for a very unpleasant experience. Overall i would recommend to get an ensuite and skip the cabin to stay. Friendly staff but overall not a pleasant stay for the price."

"It was definitely a unique stay. Just keep in mind that the deeper in the ship you go, the colder it gets. However, the duvet and blankets they provide are plenty warm, and there are extra heaters provided, plus some electric blankets I think. People complained about the diesel smell, while present, it faded away for me after a while, it wasn't overpowering or anything. "

"Reviewing for a group of 3. We stayed in the family room for 1 night while visiting the nearby glow worm caves. We had a great stay. Only about 10 minutes from the caves. The property is situated on a hill, and the patio right outside our room had spectacular views of the surrounding region/mountains. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet at night. Bathroom was spacious as well. Small kitchenette had a few items as well including electric kettle, tea, coffee. Complementary breakfast was continental and definitely a plus; had everything we needed for a long day. Was nice to meet the owner Trevor as well as his dogs who can be seen around the property. Would stay here again. "

"Everything we were hoping for. Friendly welcome, clean and had everything we needed. A 2 minute drive to Waitomo Village for very tasty dinner at the pub. Able to live out our Hobbit fantasy with amazing room and imaginative art work. Would definitely do it again. Completely unique experience."

"The lovely, friendly, man at the desk was very welcoming, and offered great advice on what was in the area to visit, etc, i.e. attractions and eateries. For our one night stay, the unit was very clean, tidy, comfortable, and offered everything we needed. We will be back again and would love to stay longer. Thank you xxx"

"The staff was nice but the room was filthy. Beds were terrible. You roll in to the middle. We had bugs crawling on the sheets in the bedrooms. Had to dust cobwebs above the bed. Killed multiple bugs inside after all windows and doors were closed. Reached out to management. They did offer to switch to a different room but it was late and would have been more difficult to move. We covered up with our clothes and did not use any bedding. A lot disappointed as we were looking forward to our stay on my husbands bday. Would be super cute if it received someTLC and a deep clean. "
