"We booked a non smoking room, but the bathroom smelt strongly of smoke. It got worse the longer we stayed there. At night we would wake to sore throats from the secondhand smoke. Good room size, uncomfortable pillow. "

"No one to help with luggage; front desk would not make dinner reservation--told to walk downstairs and do it myself; very small room; sink and vanity in bedroom area instead of the bathroom; no English television station; no view from bedroom to outside; charge for everything, for example the cappuccino at breakfast and ice at bakery; gym is very small, cold, bad smell, no water and no towels; service staff often unfriendly and unprofessional. Not recommended!"

"This was our favorite hotel on our 10 day trip to Japan. The onsen was amazing, the massage chairs hit the spot when available, and we enjoyed the free coffee / ice cream / ramen daily. We did not add breakfast. The check in area can get hectic, but they had plenty of staff and things moved along nicely. Highly recommend!"

"The property was in a great area. Hard to find a bad area in Kyoto. It's a truly wonderful city. Our hotel room was quite small for my taste and not strong in amenities. But it was very clean and the staff as always in Japan were very respectful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was average but decent and clean. "

"All was fine. Walk to the metro station may be long for some. About 400 to 500 meters. Staff was great, room was fine, and convenient stores all over."
