The hotel is very new and it shows, with everything being in great condition. Very comfortable mattress, nice big bath in the room (so big it takes 30 minutes to fill), and the rooms are fairly large for a Japanese hotel. Breakfast was good quality but the selection is not huge, however we were happy with it. The hotel is new, super clean, and beautifully designed modern but with a lovely traditional Japanese touch. The location is very central and perfect for exploring Kyoto. The staff were always incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure everything went smoothly during my stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, which is rare in Japan where most hotels have very small rooms. For the price I paid, it was amazing value! The rooms are big and it’s very welled located with Kawaramachi street approx. 10 min walk. The spa facilities are fantastic and the gym is well equipped. Unfortunately the service is not quite there yet. I had asked the hotel to contact me regarding a tea ceremony and I was informed that they had no way to contact an international phone number. In the end I was not concerned about the ceremony but more about how they would contact me if there was an emergency as I’ve never come across this issue before. I asked if they were equipped to contact me via WhatsApp and the response was ‘no’. When we visited the restaurant was under construction, bento boxes were delivered to the room for breakfast. The hotel helped us ship our bags to our next stop in Osaka.
