A lovely clean, well maintained room with lots of space. Shower room also nice and spacious. Lots of tea/coffee sachets provided, and a thoughtful gesture was a foot tray left inside the door to put dirty shoes on. No noise outside and great for sleeping, extremely quiet. The only negative(and it's not the hotels fault, more where it's situated in the village) is the wi-fi signal isn't great. However the TV has more than enough channels on it to keep you entertained. Will definitely look at going back there next year for York Races

It’s a tiny hotel, so keep that front and center when you check in. We prepared by bringing very light luggage and being creative storing our things. That said, it’s a delightful place. Well appointed for spookiness and wit. Perfectly situated for seeing York.

Everything was excellent but be mindful if you stay in Cherry on the ground floor of the adjoining property as we had someone stomping about in the room above us for about an hour as we were trying to get to sleep approx 10pm not sure what they were doing, trying to get their steps in I think but you could hear every movement and also the television, shame as everything was great I don’t think I will ever book a ground floor room with accommodation about again

Excellent family-run hotel; fantastic location right near the Minster and in the heart of the Old Town. Stumbling distance from every pub in town Staff were very nice throughout - in fact I wondered if they were for real - they were. Our rooms were brand new. No AC but that's a British thing, I think. Plumbing worked though! The fried breakfasts are huge but there are plenty of other healthy options. The breakfast room itself is in the older part and needs a little TLC but that is a minor observation. A perfect hotel for families and couples.PS. I often felt I was in the middle of an Alan Bennett play because the place felt so nostalgic, in a good way.
