"Very charming property! The host, Carmen, was lovely and she was very organized and very helpful. You will need a vehicle if you choose to stay here. We chose to stay here because we thought it would be quiet. Unfortunately, at around 6:30am some guests were walking around and speaking loudly as if they were in their own home. There was also construction going on directly outside our window at 7am. We would give it another try if we were in Catanzaro again."

20. THE ROOMS

Catanzaro

"First of all, i didn’t stay at The Rooms. They put me at one of their other properties, which, if it were summer and I was a poor college kid vacationing with friends, would have been fine. But other than the location and the entryway, this Air B&B was not good! The bedding was old, worn and stained. The toilet seat was broken, the towel warmer didn’t work, the fridge barely worked so my yogurts were warm, the shower was the size of a phone booth and there were absolutely NO amenities!...

Hotel Sogni D'Oro Airport

10/10 Excellent

"Loved this hotel."

Hotel Marechiaro

8/10 Good

"The hotel was beautiful clean room, view to the beach was beautiful, Breakfast was good, the lovely lady name Sylvia went above and beyond, very nice! Dinner was a different experience, the staff was unapproachable, didn’t explain the menu, didn’t come back and check on us, we were charged for, bread, oil and balsamic vinegar, the tablecloth and cutlery! Food was under cooked, when we were done, they removed everything off our table before we left! Very disappointed!"

Falkensteiner Club Funimation Garden Calabria - All inclusive

"We had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has many great facilities, especially the spa and gym, which were a real bonus. Our child absolutely loved the nursery, and there was a great selection of activities to keep them entertained. The lunch and dinner buffets were very good, with plenty of choice. However, after a longer stay, we felt the menus became quite repetitive. It would be nice to see a little more variety throughout the week, both at breakfast and during lunch and dinner. One suggestion would be to serve breakfast until 10:30am. On several mornings, food started being cleared away before 10:00am, which felt a little rushed. As the hotel has such a relaxing atmosphere, it would be nice if breakfast service reflected that and remained fully available until the advertised finishing time. Our room wasn’t one of the newer refurbished rooms, as none were available to book, which was understandable. However, the shower was a real disappointment. The water temperature constantly changed from freezing cold to boiling hot without anyone touching the controls, making it very difficult to shower comfortably, especially with a child. We reported this and requested that a plumber look at it. Although we were told someone had attended, unfortunately nothing seemed to have changed and the problem continued for the rest of our stay. The only other issue was smoking in the evenings. While we understand this isn’t entirely the hotel’s fault, the number of pe"

VOI Floriana Resort

"It’s was great to have room cleaning every day and nice to come back to a freshly made bed . This is a family friendly hotel with no steps for people with pushchairs. This didn’t affect us but I could see this helped people with young families. All the staff of which many were young were extremely friendly and keen to help ."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in San Floro?

The best area to stay in San Floro is within the village centre, particularly around the main piazza, Piazza del Popolo.

This area is the heart of San Floro, offering a traditional Calabrian village experience. The piazza is a central gathering point, often hosting local events and providing easy access to the village's few shops and eateries. You'll find charming, older buildings and a relaxed pace of life.

Couples looking for a quiet, authentic Italian escape will find the village centre ideal. It's great for leisurely strolls, enjoying local cuisine, and experiencing the genuine hospitality of a small community. The nearby fields of the Gelsomino (jasmine) flower, central to the village's silk-making tradition, offer pleasant walking opportunities.

For those interested in exploring the local silk-making heritage, staying close to the San Floro Silk Museum and its workshops is convenient.

When is the best time to go to San Floro?

The best time to go to San Floro, Calabria, is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and historic sites without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, superb for walks through olive groves and along the coast. Early autumn brings a gentle warmth, making it a great time for outdoor activities and enjoying the local harvest festivals.

For those planning a relaxing holiday with a focus on enjoying the Mediterranean climate, late May and early June are particularly good. The sea temperatures are starting to warm up, making it suitable for swimming and spending time on the nearby beaches, which are less crowded than in July and August.

Couples looking for a tranquil getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere of these shoulder seasons.
