The house is typical of the area and is clad with what can best be described as lava like concrete coating for protection against the elements. Reykavik's main museums, galleries and harbour (in case you want to go whale watching) are all within 5-20 minutes walk. Our favourite seafood restaurant, Humarhusid (the lobsterhouse) is only about 15 minutes strole down the main shopping street. 10 minutes walk down to the seafront, 15-20 min walk to Öskjuhlíð where you can see all over Reykjavik and further. The flat is less than 5 minutes walk from the local grocery shop, pharmacy and the central bus station. The flat is less that 3 minutes walk to an indoor swimming pool The flat is decorated and equipped to a high standard. The flat is heated by underfloor heating controlled with wall-mounted dials. The flat is entered from outside, down steps through the entrance door which leads to a tiled hallway. The kitchen is fitted with electric hob and oven, fridge and microwave. There is coffee maker and all main kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom has a large walk in rain shower, fully tiled with a wide sink and large mirror. The bedroom has a queen sized comfortable double bed. The open plan lounge has a sofa bed which converts to a double bed, comfortably sleeping two adults. The lounge is fitted with a 50inch smart TV and two tall wardrobe units with hangers and drawers to accommodate your clothing and luggage. The flat has wooden flooring throughout and tiles in kitchen and bathroom. The location was good, and we were able to walk to restaurants. Can’t comment on the hot tub that the description mentioned, because we didn’t see a hot tub. We stayed here for three nights prior to embarking on a cruise. Since we spent our time sightseeing, our needs were minimal. There were no paper towels or napkins, so we bought some and left them. Hopefully they will be there for the next guests. Would not recommend this for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. This is a basement unit, which makes it necessary to carry luggage up and down a set of stairs with no handrail. ##### Larry H B. Easy check in/check out, lots of free overnight parking on street.Walking distance to Laugavegur for restaurants, walk to Hallgrimskirkja, shops and other restaurants, Harpa. Also easy to just drive in and park near Harpa. Flat was perfect for the three of us, with a comfy sofa bed for our 9 yr old.
