I was looking for a place in Vienna's Innere Stadt for my week in Vienna. I'm glad I chose Pension Dr Geissler. Things I enjoyed: * The location is perfect, just minutes from the subway and St Stephen's and other landmarks. * My room was really nice, had a shower (from the description I thought this was shared). Toilet was shared among 4 rooms on floor and I never had an instance where it was busy when I needed it. Room had a TV and bed was comfortable. * Included breakfast was a nice touch each morning. * I arrived late (after 11 p.m.) due to a train into town. I was nervous about this since it's after official check in hours. But when I rang the outside bell, someone immediately answered and helped me get in and up to my room. Cautions: * Initial communication could be better: when I first emailed them asking about procedure for arriving late, it took a few days for someone to respond, saying my message was in their spam. I'm not sure how to get around this, for a customer. * Breakfast is on the 8th floor (along with pension office); my room was on the 5th. Other rooms are scattered here and there in the building which is shared with other apartments and businesses. It's many stairs if you walk. There's an elevator, although at times it's fairly slow. * Towels are not changed daily -- mine were only changed when I left them on the floor. Maybe this is standard, but nothing in the room indicated it. * Plant near office/courtyard window needed watering.

No shampoo or conditioner, hair dryer wasn't working, no orin in the room and no one was onsite at night to request it. I had to wash my hair with just water and no blow dryer to dry my hair at night and had to go to my meetingbwith wrinkled shirt. Worst experience. By the way, there's no security at night. Anyone can walk in at night and come to your room. Elevator doesn't require a pass and no one is at front desk at night. Main entrance is wide open too

This is a beautiful old hotel centrally located in the inner Stadt that has been beautifully updated giving a sense of old Vienna but with a younger modern feel. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and our room large and comfortable with nice amenities including bathrobes, slippers etc. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows and the bathroom was spacious, with good lighting, large towels and nice amenities. The only fly in the ointment was the lack of hot water for 12 hours during our stay, the small pastry left with the note of apology didn’t really seem adequate for the cold shower. We ate at 2 of the restaurants in the hotel and our dinner the last night before our departure proved to be one of the best meals of our trip which included several Michelin starred restaurants. The service, presentation, and quality of the food delivered was world class. The wine selection is superb and my wife and I left feeling this restaurant needs to be on a todo list if visiting Vienna. Other than the hot water issue we would stay at this beautiful property again
