Originally built in 1894 by a Swedish family as one of the area's first homesteads, this cabin offers a rare opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern comforts. Relax on the expansive wraparound porch and take in sweeping views of the Mesa, Coon Creek, tranquil ponds, and abundant wildlife—just as they were over a century ago. The cabin boasts a spacious master bedroom with a king-sized bed, a cozy sofa sleeper with a queen-sized bed, and a loft bedroom above the kitchen with a queen-sized bed. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you will need. With both indoor and outdoor dining spaces, as well as a full bathroom featuring a charming clawfoot tub, this home is perfect for unwinding after a day of outdoor adventures. This retreat is ideal for one or two couples, or a small family. In addition to the local wildlife, you'll also encounter friendly domestic animals grazing on the ranch property, including sheep, llamas, goats, cows, and occasionally chickens. It's become one of our very favorite getaways. We sleep so good, spend a lot of time chilling on the wonderful shady wraparound porch, watching the sunsets and stars. This time we made the half hour drive up to Grand Mesa and splashed around in the incredibly beautiful glacier lakes. You can't go wrong here if you're looking to unplug and enjoy. Do make sure to stop by the market at the end of the street for groceries, coffee, and ice cream. Oh, one thing: if you want to sip an adult beverage, bring it from out of town! We stayed for a week and had an excellent vacation in a beautiful part of Colorado. There were two of us with our dog and we all were very comfortable. The house sits in a park-like setting surrounded by grass fields with grazing livestock (9 sheep and one lama). As a result, the facility is extremely quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and the rest of the house was very spacious with room to spread out. The presence of a small. but well-equipped market 1/2 mile down the road was a real plus. The close proximity to many diverse activities (Grand Mesa National Forrest, Palisades, Grand Junction, Colorado National Monument, etc.) makes it an ideal location for a Western Colorado vacation. We loved the sheep and llama in the pasture and hearing cows from nearby fields. The cabin is back from the road so lots of privacy. And THE STARS at night!
