Iolida Corfu Resort by Smile Hotels

10/10 Excellent

"Beautifully presented hotel with amazing views. Classy, immaculate rooms with everything you need. Great amenities and pools, spa, shop, etc, the incredible value all-inclusive package was faultless, there is only one large restaurant but wide choice of delicious food which was always fresh and well presented. Short walk to beaches, (steep climb back but worth it for the views.) Lots of bars and restaurants in the area around it. £1.80 bus to Corfu Town every 20 min. Late season stay was excellent value, service and staff hard to fault. Thanks everybody for an excellent holiday."

Mareblue Beach - All Inclusive

8/10 Good

"We arrived an hour early and were pleased with our room, although the sea view was quite limited. We had requested single beds rather than a double, which meant my mother had to sleep on the sofa. While the shower did not initially work, it was repaired promptly. The food was acceptable, though I would have appreciated more variety as the menu remained the same each day; specifically, the breakfast options were disappointing, with poor-quality sausages and greasy bacon and eggs. Although we booked an all-inclusive package, many drinks required an extra charge, and the cocktails seemed diluted as we felt no effects after thirteen drinks. The pool and entertainment were wonderful, although the magic performance was a bit dull. The à la carte dinner, however, was exceptional and truly delicious. A significant drawback was the number of steps, which would be difficult for those with mobility issues, and the lack of lighting in those areas at night. Furthermore, the location is quite isolated with nothing in the immediate vicinity, so we remained at the hotel for the duration of our four-day stay. Overall, we had a beautiful time and the weather was amazing."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lakones?

The best area to stay in Lakones is the village itself, particularly around the main square and along the road that winds through the village.

Lakones is a traditional Greek village perched high on a hillside, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Paleokastritsa Bay and the Ionian Sea. The village's main road, which is often narrow and winding, is lined with local tavernas and small shops. You'll find the central square near the church, a natural gathering spot. The village retains much of its original character, with stone houses and cobbled paths.

Couples looking for a romantic and scenic getaway will find Lakones perfect. Many accommodations here, from guesthouses to boutique hotels, are designed to maximise the stunning sea views, often featuring balconies or terraces where you can enjoy the sunset. It's a wonderful base for quiet evenings and enjoying local cuisine.

For travellers who enjoy walking and exploring, staying within the village allows easy access to its paths and viewpoints, such as the famous "Bella Vista" spot.

When is the best time to go to Lakones?

The best time to visit Lakones is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

During these months, you'll experience warm, sunny days superb for exploring the village and surrounding areas without the intense heat and larger tourist numbers of July and August. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, and you can enjoy the natural beauty of the area at a more relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the tranquillity of Lakones during these quieter periods. You can enjoy strolls through the olive groves, dine at local tavernas with stunning views, and experience the charm of the village without feeling rushed.
