For 8 years in the middle 1700's the British forcibly removed the French speaking Acadiens from this area because of an unfounded fear that they would take up arms against them. Grand Pre was an area of reclaimed land that was incredibly fertile. We stayed only one night, but it was quiet and comfortable. The town is a quick walk away - and the town is absolutely amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer.
