![St Mary's church viewed from Burston Road. St Mary's church > 1366828 - 1366845 has a round tower which dates from the 10th or 11th century, with the two light windows with characteristic zig-zag carving were added in Norman times. Both south and north doorways > 1366822 have Norman zig-zag decorations also, as has the tower arch > 1367242. It is believed that the nave dates at least in part from Saxon times. The south chapel was added in the 13th century. The 14th century north chapel > 1366835 used to be the chapel of the Kemp family, lords of the manor from 1324 until the early 20th century - the many memorials on its walls are to family members > 1366838. The north porch is a C15 addition. St Mary's has a magnificent 15th century hammerbeam roof with rows of angels attached to it. The octagonal font > 748803 is 14th century. The church was extensively restored in Victorian times and the furnishings date from this time, although some of the original bench ends have been retained. Poor outside area. Altogether, main hotel was irrelevant. This was a low standard at an exorbitant price for what was provided. Not recommended. »

« This is an amazing place to stop , very clean , warm and everything you need to have a good stay , it was -3 when i stopped but was warm n snug , tesco and lidl at the end of the road. I will definitely be stopping again when im up this way »

![St Mary's church viewed from Burston Road. St Mary's church > 1366828 - 1366845 has a round tower which dates from the 10th or 11th century, with the two light windows with characteristic zig-zag carving were added in Norman times. Both south and north doorways > 1366822 have Norman zig-zag decorations also, as has the tower arch > 1367242. It is believed that the nave dates at least in part from Saxon times. The south chapel was added in the 13th century. The 14th century north chapel > 1366835 used to be the chapel of the Kemp family, lords of the manor from 1324 until the early 20th century - the many memorials on its walls are to family members > 1366838. The north porch is a C15 addition. St Mary's has a magnificent 15th century hammerbeam roof with rows of angels attached to it. The octagonal font > 748803 is 14th century. The church was extensively restored in Victorian times and the furnishings date from this time, although some of the original bench ends have been retained. "Proximity to the train station is quite nice and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this hotel because the room itself was not well maintained. There was black mould growing in the shower because it wasn’t properly sealed. I also couldn’t find a pillow that was very comfortable. But the most frustrating part was there was an intermittent and very loud rumbling sound in my room that kept me awake almost the entire night. I turned off my AC but that didn’t stop it. The concierge said that normally they’d switch my room, but that night there was a football game in the nearby stadium so they were fully booked. I was offered earplugs, but I’d already tried earplugs and I could still feel the vibrations in my bed; I was also worried that if I wore earplugs I’d sleep through my alarm (the only power outlet where my phone could charge was on the other side of the room) and I had a train to catch the next morning. It’s fair to say that I haven’t ever had a worse sleep in a hotel. The staff were polite and accommodating, but they were limited by substandard facilities. I thank them for their efforts, but I likely won’t be staying here again."
