"The staff were very nice. They let me have an early check in and a late check out. The only thing I think can be improved is the lighting in the rooms: There is only one central light and the room is very dim at night. They could do with a desk light on the table. They could also do with a light above the chair and coffee table for reading. "

"The staff at Ellen Bay Inn are so friendly, and they make your stay in Antigua feel like you’re there visiting family. I had some issues with my flight changing last minute, but Ellen Bay Inn quickly responded to my email with my new details, and I felt like I was going to be looked after. On arrival, Trevor was there waiting for me at the airport with a smile, and Sharon was at the hotel waiting for me also with a smile. I felt like I was at home. "I went to Antigua with my mom and sisters for a girls trip to my home country. This was the first time we stayed local and not at a resort or with family and it was the best decision because of how lovely the entire stay was. I felt like a proper Antiguan during this trip! The location was perfection in terms of beach access and tiny local shops in Willikies. The house was an absolute dream come true with high end amenities, pool, and safety. Akeem, the host, was helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, quickly tended to any concerns, and was overall just such a warm soft-spoken person. For future stayers, just know this place requires a car rental based upon where it is located in the country. I will say it being located in the hills of the countryside is perfect because it never felt too hot there with the winds and daily morning rain. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks Akeem!!! "

"The House at Willikies was an interesting stay. If you want to stay somewhere authentically Antiguan, with home decoration and a real home experience this is a great place. The property is large to UK standards and the grounds are immaculate. The views and sea access were the absolute selling point for me - stunning!Some of the downsides for us were unfortunately outside anyones control - we came in July and arrived during a particularly hot heatwave (yes in Antigua!), the property was stifling even though completely opened up - the fans did little to alleviate the heat and not much sleep was had. The kids found this particularly challenging. Keeping the house open did mean mosquitos (this is a 'Tropical' house - there are not even fly screens on the slat windows which I have seen on other 'Tropical' houses in the Caribbean). However, the house is totally 'open' no front door -and air holes in the roof so fly screens would not work. Be warned. The Verandah hotel opposite throws out loud music a few times a week until very late (even in down season) the noise carries at night. We were unaware that a housekeeper is employed by the house - if you are early risers no problem but if not this may be challenging, it was lovely to have someone clean every day and all the staff were marvellous and could not be more helpful, but it is slightly intrusive and she could not come later due to transport. Despite this I absolutely loved the house and its remoteness and very sad to depart"
