Created by Diablo Dam, the lake is located between Ross Lake and Gorge Lake on the Skagit River at an elevation of 1,201 feet (366 m) above sea level. The unique, intense turquoise hue of the lake's water is attributed to the surrounding glaciers that grind rocks into a fine powder that is carried into the lake through creeks. Check in was a bit hectic as many flights were cancelled and the lines for check-in were very long and the weather was a huge factor as it’s an open air check in area. The wind and rain was brutal while we waited- but the staff did everything they could to get people checked as quickly as they could. They also closed room service down extra early which made it hard for people to get food. I’m sure they had a shortage of help not being able to come in and work so it’s understandable. Every person on the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We ate at the Bali Oceanfront Restaurant twice for breakfast and once for dinner and had great meals.
