The best area to stay in Changxing is Sun Moon Lake, particularly around the Shuishe and Ita Thao villages.

Sun Moon Lake is the heart of Changxing's appeal, offering stunning natural beauty and a range of activities. Shuishe Village, located on the northern shore, is the main transportation hub, with the largest concentration of hotels, restaurants, and shops. The area around Shuishe Pier is a key starting point for lake cruises and cycling paths.

Couples will find the serene beauty of Sun Moon Lake ideal for a romantic getaway. Many hotels in Shuishe offer lake views, and there are plenty of spots for quiet walks along the shore or boat trips to explore the lake's temples and pagodas. The general ambience is relaxed and picturesque.

For those looking for a slightly more cultural experience with convenient access to local life, Ita Thao Village on the south-eastern shore is a good choice. This village is home to the Thao Indigenous people, and its bustling market street offers local crafts and food.

The best time to go to Changxing is during the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) months.

These seasons offer pleasant weather conditions, with comfortable temperatures and less humidity compared to the summer. Spring brings blooming flowers and lush greenery, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area, such as the Changxing Forest Park. Autumn provides crisp air and often clear skies, superb for outdoor activities like hiking or cycling along the lake.

For couples looking for a relaxing escape, these shoulder seasons are particularly good. You can enjoy strolls through the tea plantations without the intense heat or the crowds of peak summer. Many of the boutique hotels and tea houses offer a more serene experience during these times.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the milder weather, which is more conducive to exploring attractions like the Changxing Zoo or enjoying boat trips on the lake without the discomfort of extreme temperatures.
