Yes, water recreation activities do shut down in winter months, but there is still plenty of natural beauty, art, shopping, great food to be enjoyed, as you experienced. Thank you Anna for your kind words about the chalet. We are glad you liked it and found it pretty and original. I am stunned to read that you didn't think I informed you about the 80 steps (88 to be exact). I specifically include two photos with the steps in the listing. I also have this information in the property description. I mention the steps in all of the presentation material that I share with guests before their arrival. The last thing I want is for guests with mobility issues to arrive and then not be able to access it. I really don't know what else I can do to make it clearer. Many reviews also mention the steps - they generally say that even though they are tough, the view is worth it. I am surprised you didn't read them. I will take this opportunity to make sure that any future travelers who are considering staying at the chalet are well aware that there are 88 steps one needs to be able to climb. Most reasonably fit people will not have a problem with them. All the best Lilia

Hi Stan, we are glad that you and your wife had a great stay at our place, thank you for the 5-star rating! Regarding towels: we leave one set out per stay, with 3 towels per guest (small, medium, and large). If guests need more, they can text me - as you saw, I generally respond very quickly. And did not receive a text from you about this. I have a spare set available. Indeed, my cleaner told me that you managed to find and use the spare set on your own without even asking, so I really don't understand your comment. Also, not quite sure what was confusing about the trash, specifically: you need to separate organic trash from 4 different types of recycling, which can be a pain, but it is for the environment, which we all love. We provide 5 bins. This is what you do in most Countries in this day and age. In any case, we always want to improve, and give our guests a memorable experience, so we will take your comments into consideration to see if there is anything we can do better in these two areas. Dear Ariane, Thank you for your nice, detailed review, and for taking the time to comment on several important points - much appreciated. First and foremost, we are thrilled to announce that we did take your words to heart about the mattress - our guests' comfort is a top priority for us. You are on vacation, a good night's sleep is extremely important. We had slept on it until recently, and it didn't seem too soft / didn't cave in, so we didn't even think of it. Still, we had it for a few years, so we decided to replace it after all. We just purchased a brand new, "super mattress" - it is considered a "medical device" for its features. The first couple of guests have slept on it already, and they have found it to be very comfortable. Yes, Brienno is very very picturesque, with unique waterfront features, but it does not offer much in terms of services or nightlife. It is indeed a place one should chose to use as a base for visiting the other lake villages or Como, and then spend some quiet time while back at home. We clearly explain this in the description of the property in our listing. We also recommend grocery shopping on the way in, since the two large supermarkets are 15 minutes away. Still, the next town over, Argegno, does offer plenty of lovely shops for every day needs and more, and that's only a couple of minutes away by car. And in the summer a truck come to the village even morning, for a couple of hours, with bread and cheeses and lots of great items. We are thrilled that Carmen was able to give you interesting information on the area, and most importantly that you were able to rest and relax as hoped.
