We were there before the pre-ski season rush and it is clear that the new management wants to impress. The kitchen and accommodations were clean and inviting and the kitchen was well equipped and well organized (including labeled fridge and pantry locations for each room). I appreciated that they had a dishwasher which saved time in the kitchen and made me feel the dishes were actually clean unlike some other shared kitchens I’ve used. Great location as well- walking distance to the lake front and also right on the way to the ski area/hiking trails.

We had a great stay, despite our 1st room and 1st night being difficult as we were placed in a room directly in front of tennis courts and later to find out a basketball court! Which was used a lot in the evening.
Luckily we were able to be moved to another apartment which was MUCH nicer overall in terms of being in better shape and comfortable beds and also quiet.

Fantastic location, walking distance to town. Could have been cleaner, and better appointed ie - only 1/2 roll of toilet paper, 1 tea bag, no sugar etc. Room was spacious, and beds were comfy. Manager was very responsive to a request for light bulbs, as 3 lights didnt work. Would probably return for the location alone.

The lakeside cabin we stayed in had noticeably stained sheets and duvets, but the worst part was the terrible, nauseating odor inside. There were swarms of sandflies by the lake at night, and since the cabin lacked window screens, we had to keep the door shut; we ended up sitting in our car until late before finally going inside to sleep, and we left in a hurry as soon as it was light. This was the most dreadful accommodation experience I’ve had in ten years in New Zealand. That said, if you are camping in your own RV, the scenery here is absolutely spectacular.
