My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated. The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise. The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner. As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever. I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent." The rooms itself are good then when it came to the next day, even though we paid for late checkout cleaning staff opened the door while we were sleeping at 11\. No knock prior.
