"Privet room good to get if couple bit expensive if cheaper be better"

"This was perfectly located for where I needed to be, accessible by public transport, right near excellent restaurant precinct. The accommodation itself was clean and I had everything I needed. Check-in after hours was easy."

"Clean hostel all around. You could see cleaning done everyday. The kitchen was a huge plus for me because it saved me a lot of money on eating out. Three dinners were provided each week promoting social interactions with other guests. If I need a place to stay in the future I will be back"

"The hostel has a great location just across the road from the beach, however it is overpriced for the service you receive. When booking, please be aware that you will have to carry your luggage up three flights of narrow stairs to get to the reception area to check in. The rooms are shabby, with holes in the walls in several places. Having ‘apartment’ style rooms is quite nice, however in my apartment there were guests sleeping on beds in the communal areas, which was not very private. At full...

"Lack of service.... Never anyone at reception.. Was told I could only pay cash for the booking... And when I decided to extend my booking the next night, I checked the price online and it was $80 But when the manager/receptionist finally arrived I saw her on one of the floors as she was cleaning the rooms. I asked her if I could meet her a reception and pay another night. And she said oh just pay me here and now cash. I asked her how much for the night? And her response was... How much did...

"Staff was extremely nice. We were upgraded to Room 318 with an amazing view of the Harbor Bridge and Opera House. Hotel is basic accommodation, no lift. The pub on the ground floor is very friendly with a local flavor. Near Kings Cross station."

"Pay some extra money and stay somewhere else if you don’t want to breathe in cigarette smoke or if you want some sleep. The room windows all opened out onto the smoking deck - what a treat- especially when traveling with kids- love a good ciggy for the family floating in through the louvre windows that you can’t close. "The location is great. Very close to King Cross station. The staff are friendly. I also like free luggage storage. But the place stinks. The Wi-Fi sucks. I mean good Wi-Fi is like the baseline a hostel should have and you fail. There are not enough bathrooms. People have to queue up to get into a bathroom(which combines toilet and shower together, so if you want to pee, you have to wait for people to finish showering). "

"mould all over the shower curtains in the bathroom. I didn’t want to shower because i didn’t want to breathe in the spores. No door on the bathroom, Just a curtain that was see through. The room could have been cleaner. The traffic outside was extremely noisy and it wasn’t really near any restaurants. It’s passable if you’re desperate but otherwise i’d book somewhere else. "

"Not as clean as expected. Didn't have flat sheet for the bedding, and saw some bugs in the bedroom. Good that late checkin was smooth. The receptionist was not available in person until very late in AM, but she is very friendly."

"I spent a few nights at the Asylum Sydney and can recommend this hostel although its furniture is a bit long in the tooth. That i enjoyed my stay is primarily due to the fact that the staff were very friendly and helpful and the mix of the guests was very pleasant and due to the small size of the hostel you easy make contact with other guests. Other benefits are plugs for every bunk, locker on the room and free but simple breakfast."
