Three of us stayed in three separate Economy rooms for 1 night only (a Saturday night) for our quick sightseeing in Beijing.
The accommodation (my room had no windows, the lady at the reception said as much when we checked in - I was fine with this) was small but perfectly clean. My bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and had all the amenities. There was a kettle in the room and some tea and coffee and of course, 2 White Rabbit sweets ! Yum.
Overall, the stay was very pleasant. My only criticism was that while I was in a non smoking room, there was still a lingering smell of smoke, from where? I'm not sure, I don't think it was the room itself, maybe coming from somewhere else, no biggie.
The hotel is located near enough to the Metro/Subway and very near (diagonally opposite) a large restaurant that does GREAT dumplings (both steamed and fried)
Although mainly found Chinese travellers there, I found it great. Staff were very helpful. There was at least one person who could speak in English. They also told me how to get about in the subway when asked. However, if you want to travel to Great Wall, hotel will not arrange a tour bus for you. I hired a taxi because I had one day allocated to go to Great Wall and it suited me. Also, hotel will not arrange airport transfer bus. There are taxis, and I took one, as I had luggage that I cannot carry in the subway. I found Chinese people as helpful people. Some will take a few minutes to show you directions. These seldom happen in a western country. If you know Chinese language, even a little, it will definitely help, as a few can communicate in English.

This hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are exquisite, with real attention to detail. Being a courtyard hotel, all ground level rooms and suites open off the courtyard, which is charming but can be very noisy. My room AO1 backed onto reception, which meant I could hear people coming and going at all times of the day and night. Certain guests and staff were sometimes very noisy which was a little frustrating, but I'd still much rather stay here that in a standard hotel. Wifi was often poor, but I've found that to be the case in China generally. The staff were very friendly, although their English is very limited. The Hutong area was fantastic and very manageable, compared to the vastness of Beijing as a whole. The only downside is that taxi drivers did not always want to drive you back there, although there was never a problem hailing a taxi from the Hutong. I highly recommend this hotel for an authentic experience in Beijing.
"Great Location, the performance is a nice extra."
I was just passing through for a couple of days and didnt really spend a lot of time choosing the hotel, this hotel ticked all the boxes and exceeded expectations. The Shadow Art performance (30 minutes) is a nice fun extra - be aware it's only 3 evenings a week. English speaking staff are available on the front desk too.
Two weeks at this hotel - have stayed here before - and the place has gone downhill a little.
Furniture is a little shabby and management needs to take steps to enforce the recently-regulated interior smoking ban.
