"Great opportunity to step back in time at this rustic 1920s lodge in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns. Tons of character, lots of areas to hang out and play games, peruse their library, and settle in with a book on their fabulous front porch. Quiet location, 20 minutes away from the charming towns of Sylva and Waynesville, NC. Lodging includes free breakfast, a satisfying southern buffet—waffles, cheesy grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. Staff is friendly. Service is “relaxed.”"

"Five Stars This place was definitely a true getaway retreat away from everything. Four-wheel drive is definitely recommended, and we knew that going in, so we brought our Jeep with us. It made the trip up to the cabin enjoyable and added to the whole mountain experience.If you are looking for a place to truly get away from everything, sit back, enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, and relax in the hot tub, then this is the place for you.The cabin gives you that secluded, peaceful feeling while still having all the comforts and necessities of life that we have gotten used to.It is also very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it just a short drive to take in some beautiful mountain views and watch an amazing sunset — or sunrise, if you are an early riser.We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend A World Apart to anyone looking for peace, privacy, and a real mountain getaway."

"This property was very clean and up to date. It was a nice touch to find soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, tooth paste and the kitchen even had coffee, sugar, teas and spices along with all the regular amenities. The views from the cabin were spectacular and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch. The waterfall was an extra bonus, it was so peaceful."

"My brother and I are professional & experienced motorcycle riders. The good... This property came up because it is very close to the Blue Ridge parkway. The home is BEAUTIFUL, peaceful, quiet, secluded, clean, relaxing, has nice beds and is stocked with everything you need to stay comfortably for a long while.. the views throughout the day are wonderful and the creek below makes the most relaxing sounds. The area offers 2 nearby cities where you can find anything you need within minutes. The ONLY not so good about this cabin is the air conditioning, which we had to turn off. The noise from all 3 units were a high pitched squeal that after a few hours of arrival drove us crazy. We were lucky enough to have some great weather instead though.WHAT I WISH I KNEW... like I said we went for a motorcycle trip, hauling our bikes to the cabin. Unless you can turn your trailer by hand, this is not the area you want. These driveways are so steep and loose with dirt and gravel we had some real issues working with them and I did dump my bike for the first time in my life within 5 minutes on the first day, and that was going down! My brother, who is a professional sport bike racer and rider, had to take my bike UP every time because it was unmanageable for me, and I've been riding my entire adult life. The home and area are fantastic, but not really suited for a motorcycle trip. Our 2 cents. Thank you."
Balsam Mountain Cabin with waterfalls and a great year round view

"The cabin was wonderful and met our needs, the views were beautiful, however there was no air conditioning. It was not listed in the description, we just assumed there was. We were on motorcycles and the main road leading up to the cabin was extremely steep and the driveway was gravel, but maintained. I cannot speak for women, but for three guys on motorcycles it was great."
