I recently stayed at the Astoria Hotel in Lucerne and booked two rooms. While the location is excellent and right in the city centre, my overall experience was disappointing. The biggest issue was the service. I found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful. Throughout my stay, I never felt welcomed, and interactions with the reception team left a poor impression. One of the rooms was modern and comfortable, but the other was a letdown. The bathroom had no toilet door, which was surprising for a hotel of this standard. Although I was offered an alternative room, it was in an older part of the hotel and was noticeably less appealing. Guests book rooms based on the photos and descriptions provided, so discovering such a significant design flaw on arrival was disappointing. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. One of our rooms was not cleaned during our stay, which is unacceptable considering the price charged. Only two towels were provided, despite there being plenty of storage space. For a hotel at this price point, guests should not have to request additional towels. The hotel's central location is its strongest feature, and parts of the property have a modern design. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by poor customer service, inconsistent housekeeping. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the Mountains of Wengen. Beautiful town, easy to travel between other towns as train station was a 5 minute walk. Stunning! No AC at this hotel, but it was fine. Restaurant was delicious. Staff was fantastic.

It looks like a retrofit hotel with poor floor plans and outdated design.

The rooms were really good - I love the design. The church bells can be a little loud if you like to sleep with open windows. I didn’t mind it; after an active day in the mountains, I sleep like a rock. The breakfast was so so; we must be spoiled from other hotels before. Location is perfect to start your day trips and the staff was happy to help with that as well. We were able to walk to a little spot just 5min away to take a swim in the lake as well - very convenient.

Such an excellent experience! The hotel staff were so friendly & helpful. The room was beyond comfortable with AC, a wonderful bed, black out shades, a Nespresso machine, robes & slippers, complimentary waters, excellent water pressure, +++. Perfect location for exploring the Old Town & great restaurants.
