"It's an odd or special, staff-free hotel in Pittsburgh. I was lucky enough to bump into one on the day of check in because the main door is locked with a code. Other than that, I only bumped into the cleaning crew in the morning here and there. The building is old and has character. It's quite attractive. The restaurant at the lobby is bloody expensive. I've never tried. The amenities: it's basically single use pour over coffee (regular and decaf). This is actually very damn good! There's also Breakfast tea by Harney and Sons. It's good too. The water machine has tap to cool to hot, and lightly sparkling to very, on top of various flavors. It's fun. This hotel does not have breakfast - only a Nespresso machine that didn't work for me in the lobby between 8 to 12. The Gymnasium is the old timey YMCA open space when it was used for people back when. It is not an actual modern gym. There is also an event space on the second floor."

"Good if generic/bland and slightly overpriced hotel in a great location just outside of downtown. Lots of room in the room, great shower, lobby bar, and on-site parking. Breakfast is extra. Friendly, attentive staff. Would return but would also look at options."

"Over the past four years we have stayed at the Joinery, which is close to Point Park University's campus. The hotel is getting a little worn. I noticed things like peeling wall paper, loose tissue holders, loose hooks, etc. I always sleep well at the Joinery, the heavy curtains help keep the room dark. I also use the workout room, which would benefit from a deep clean. The Joinery is a good hotel, not as expensive as some others nearby with adequate amenities."

"This is a great stay, especially if you are looking to catch a baseball game. Convenient access to the highway, though there are no restaurants or places to shop in the vicinity. Breakfast is a standard fare of what one ought to expect from an American continental breakfast hotel offering; eggs, biscuits, muffins, oatmeal, pancakes, etc. Get there early in the evening as the seats fill up quick. Overall, the location itself leaves something to be desired, but it is close enough to everything. I would stay again. Only major qualm is the hotel seems very understaffed. There was often only one check in person, and the line went out to the entrance on a few occasions over the three nights I was there for. "

"Parking was an issue. There was a long wait to get your car. They may have to move several other cars to access your car. Our room was supposed to have a refrigerator. When we inquired they said they would bring one but it might not work. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean."
