(964 reviews) We took our little dog with us and the only place we could eat whilst with her was the conservatory. This is a nice space but the floor was not cleaned from when we arrived and had something to eat there (a chip was dropped on the floor). It was still there with other crumbs late morning Sunday which didnt seem very sanitary. The spa was terrible - overcrowded, not the peaceful hushed space described in the leaflet. My husband refused to attend all of his sessions due to this. He could not even find a place to sit in there let alone get access to the facilities, as it was full of giggling women toting glasses of champagne and taking up all available space. Very poor indeed and we wont be returning. (1,003 reviews) Ive used this hotel for over 20 years when travelling for business in the area. Always a clean room, nice food, drinks and friendly staff. However last night there was a 'group in' and it seemed that no one else really mattered. I asked to book a table for 1 at 19.00 to be told that there was a group in and they couldn't really fit me in. After a 5 hour drive not what i wanted to hear. I was offered the bar to eat which didnt meet my expectations so i pushed back a little and the bookings manager fitted me in at 19.00\. I arrived a little early as there was only 2 other people in the restaurant area. I was accommodated immediately. I was told i could have the table until 20.15 which was ample. I was sat on a table where i had to use my phone torch to read the menu.The back ground lighting could do with turning up! Food was as ever excellent if rushed as there were very few other customers using the restaurant. Presumably the decks were cleared waiting for the more important 'group' to arrive. I left the restaurant at 19.45 well ahead of my allotted time. Breakfast was moved to the bar area this morning - a first in 20 years. I believe this was because of the 'group' having use of the restaurant (it was empty at 07.00). Not a problem but it felt less organised for a more meagre selection. Groups will contribute more financially but it should not be at the cost of loyal returning customers. Im here again tonight so look forward to things returning to normal.
