Swaffham Bulbeck Vacation Packages

Arrived on my own as husband was travelling separately. Place looked deserted on arrival and was literally in the middle of nowhere. Inside was very dark and dated and nothing like the pictures online. No other guests in sight. Shown to room which again looked nothing like the pictures online and smelt very musty. Stains on carpet. Key pad entry system and an old piece of paper with the code on so clearly not changed between guests meaning anyone could access the room if they'd stayed there before. Saw other guests arriving which were just single men. The place made me feel very uncomfortable so went into bar area to get a drink while I waited for hubby to arrive. Cash only bar and luckily I had some cash on me. I then chose to sit outside the entrance until my husband arrived as there were workmen working on the road and I felt safer. When husband arrived I told him not to bother getting bags out as we weren't staying for the 3 nights we'd booked. He agreed as soon as he saw the room. When he went to reception to tell the lady we were leaving she said they had nicer rooms and offered to move us which we rejected due to the overall feeling and presentation of the hotel. The place just felt wrong and the few other guests I eventually saw (single males) seemed very odd. Maybe I was overthinking but just got a really bad feeling about the place.

Accessible room was only a few steps from reception. Staff were helpful and breakfast was decent.
