"The suite was beautifully appointed, spacious, and well furnished. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, and our pool view was lovely. We especially enjoyed the private spiral staircase from our balcony that led directly down to the pool. The pool was advertised as heated, although the water temperature definitely suggested otherwise. Unfortunately, the biggest issue with our stay was significant and should not be taken lightly: there were tiny ants everywhere inside the unit. They were on the kitchen counters, dining room table, couch, and throughout the living space. We had to throw away all of the food we left on the counter because it became completely infiltrated with ants. They were so tiny that they were often difficult to see, but you could feel them crawling on you. It got to the point where we couldn't comfortably sit at the dining room table or even relax on the couch. It's unfortunate because the unit itself is beautiful and has so much going for it, but the ant infestation seriously impacted our ability to comfortably enjoy the suite. This is something management needs to address immediately before hosting future guests."
Aqua Lodges at Hurricane Hole Marina

"We had a fantastic stay at Hurricane Hole. The beds were comfy, the shower was surprisingly good for a houseboat, and the managers of the marina gave excellent customer service. We had nurse sharks, tarpins, jellyfish, snapper, and manatees visit us daily. This is a working marina and you are staying on a boat. There are smells and you will hear and feel the boats move, especially at night. None of that would stop us from returning, but be aware that this is not a luxury resort and that's part of its charm. Also, the restaurant is fantastic. Great happy hour and the burgers rate among the best we've ever had. I had the patty melt twice in one week and it alone was worth the flight to Key West. The location was great. 10-15 minutes to Duval St (or a $15 Uber during peak hours), but far away enough for real relaxation. Coffee on the dock in the morning was a peaceful and beautiful start to a day. And Stock Island has some great character of its own. Don't miss Hogfish or Tropical Market (authentic Cuban cuisine at a crazy cheap price). Light sleepers and fussy travelers might reconsider but for us, we are already planning our return. Thanks for the memories Hurricane Hole!"

"Wonderfully situated & quiet suite on United. Cleaning could have been better if more attention had been paid. Warm & hot water took forever. Shower could be much better if it had an attached hose for all around water. Water pressure sucked! Maudia (check in person) was excellent. Kitchen staff appeared angry & was less than helpful. Pool surroundings not kept up. Temperatures of both hot tub & pools were good."
