« When we initially arrived at the property, I entered the door code and opened the door to find someone else's belongings inside the home. We quickly called the rental company and a representative started looking into the problem for us. They placed us at a nearby rental while we waited, which was helpful, as it was approaching our daughters bedtime and we had been in the car all day. We found out that another group has mistakenly checked into our place, and was probably let in by housekeeping....

« We had a great experience at the Elk Meadows property over New Years. The house is very well done with the kind of high end custom finishes you don't expect from a vacation rental. The straw bale construction is super warm and insulative and the views from the property are unbeatable! Absolutely gorgeous property and house. The driveway is very steep and even given the light snow this year was a bit dicey. People uncomfortable driving in winter snowy conditions on snow packed dirt roads may find...

« Nice condo. Loved the location. A hiking trail right behind and a river in front. Quiet and still close enough to walk everywhere. We did have a problem with the hot water heater the first night. We were given access to the unit next door until the plumber could come and check it out. No issues after he looked at it. The condo could use a few tweaks like more coffee mugs and drinking glasses and some new pans. But other than that, very well stocked with lots of towels, toilet paper, paper...

« The house & property were perfect for our visit to the Durango area. The views are spectacular any time of day from every room and the back deck was our coffee & cocktail spot for hours! The house felt like a home and has so much character. Super convenient location yet remote and very quiet. Would absolutely stay here again! Area hints: James Ranch burgers YUM, easy hikes at Haviland Lake or horse back rides, county road 250 through the river valley & of course the drive to Ouray & Ridgway...

« The suite was large, quiet and had everything we needed for a ski hop. I imagine in summer it may be a bit louder as it is on a main street. Loved the hot pools for relaxing after a hard day on the mountain! »
