The checking process was long and painful. They first made copies of our passports, then asked us to connect to the internet and fill out a long online application, which again requested our passport numbers, dates of birth, race, reasons for entering the country, addresses, cell phone numbers, emails, and other personal details. Much of this information was unnecessary for a hotel check‑in and was collected online, which violated our privacy. Other hotels we stayed at in Rio de Janeiro had a smooth and quick check‑in process without any online applications.
