"The apartment was very"rustic". I think the owner really cares and is doing the best they can. However, it was not what I anticipated or hoped for.There is a very strong cigarette smell as you enter the house and we smelled it again when we went to bed. From the front door, you go up a flight of stairs to a sliding wooden door. Down the hall to the left is the kitchen which seemed well stocked. But the kitchen was very dated. (Kind of like visiting Great Aunt Sarah's house). To the right you will find two bedrooms and a living room. There did not seem to be any central heating. There was a large furnace in the living room and an electric stove in the bedroom. One of the bedrooms had a single bed. Someone had clearly been sleeping in it. I contacted the owner and he told me no one had been there for three weeks. (We locked the doors and set up booby traps with our shoes in case someone tried to join us...). That room led into a bathroom which also connected with the main bedroom. That bed was very old. It was a double, but every time one moved the bed rolled. It was terribly uncomfortable. Needless to say, between the bed and our concern that someone would be joining us, we had very little sleep. I don't wish to be unkind, but I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place."

"The property itself and the rooms are lovely. We arrived at supper time on friday night. Found no one on site to check us in. Had to call a phone #, which told us i should have received an email with check in information, i did not. Also i had no internet to check that. Eventually got checked in. Door code didn't work. Had to call back, have it reset from them. By this time 7 pm and no restaurant in town open. Drove to Gore Mountain ski hill, food and service was awesome. Sat went hiking returned home around 4pm. Door code again did not work. Called again, this time he called in his housekeeper, waited over 40 minutes to get new code, which only worked intermittently. Very frustrating. On fri night had very loud guests next to us who did not quiet down until 4:30 am, but no one to call to ask for assistance with this. "

Breakfast at Chef Darrell's Diner was top notch. Great hike, and tree frogs at night. So perfect. Thank you so much! "

"We had a great stay at Base Camp in Long Lake and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-located place in the Adirondacks. We traveled as a family of six. Everything about the experience felt easy and well thought out by the owners.Before we even arrived, communication was smooth and straightforward. They were responsive, which made planning the trip simple. All the details we needed for check-in and the stay were clearly explained ahead of time.When we got to the cabin, the first thing we noticed was how clean and well-kept everything was. It matched the listing perfectly and felt very welcoming right away.The space worked really well for our group. With six people, it can be tough to find a place that feels comfortable, but this cabin managed to do both especially with the bunkhouse for the kids. We spent a lot of time in the main cabin and the upstairs master bed was surprisingly comfortable.The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and the pans and utensils were better than expected. It was well-stocked. The location was also perfect, centrally located in the Adirondacks in the quaint town of Long Lake with close hikes of Buttermilk Falls, Blue Mountain, and a great suprise hiking Ok Slip Falls...well worth the hike! We also really enjoyed eating at the Adirondack Hotel just minutes away. It felt like you were in the middle of nowhere, which we wanted, but was so close to the amenities in town. "

The cabin is well equipped, with an extremely comfortable Queen bed, a cozy window seat & everything you might need to prepare a full meal. The Highlight is the View!!! Like a 200" TV screen, across from the bed, is the most glorious view of the mountains that you could imagine!"
