"Quinta do Loureiro is truly spectacular! The home, the property, the views! We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed one more (so happy it was available) and I still couldn't bear to leave. Francisco and Teresa are such gracious and welcoming hosts, a beautiful couple, warm and friendly, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome, ensuring that we were well taken care of and that our stay was perfect. My husband and I loved every second and will cherish the memories for a lifetime. Even getting lost (we always do) was an adventure and it was truly difficult to keep my eyes on the road as every turn was a feast for the eyes. We began each morning with the most delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, supplied by Francisco and Teresa form the many orange trees on their property, sipping our way into the day, as we embraced the views and beauty around us. In the evenings, after the peaceful sunsets, we enjoyed dinner by the fireplace and watching the lights come on around the stunning valley. We forced ourselves out a couple of the days to visit wineries and stayed in one to enjoy the gorgeous pool, homemade lemonade, grilling lunch and a great walk around the property. Quinta do Loureiro is breath taking. Francsico and Teresa are the epitome of hosts. We will always carry the memories in our hearts. Thank you Francisco and Teresa."

"I've posted elsewhere that we stayed at wonderful hotels in Portugal. The "stories" were about reaching them and trying to park at them. The Douro Castelo experience was our worst! We used GPS to find the hotel. Made the mistake of making the last turn! The hotel was only feet from the last intersection. [A red "carpet" reached from the door to the intersection, but we missed it.] We drove past the entrance on a gradually narrowing street. Narrowing more! Pulled in mirrors. Scraped the car on a house [with only inches of clearance on the driver's side.] Ultimately both cars returned to the lower center of Lamego and parked in lots. We transferred to the hotel by Uber. We enjoyed our stay--once we got there. But arriving was a trauma--and an expensive one at that."

"We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 8th floor and was more a suite than a room. It comprised a king size bed, large couch, table for two and a bathroom. This room also had the added benefit of a private terrace/garden with river views. Quality of fitout was of a high standard and also included were robes and slippers. Additional facilities included in the room rate were three pools (and outdoor horizon pool, an indoor swimming pool and an indoor spa), sauna, steam room and a tennis court. In terms of dining there is a pool bar, another bar and a restaurant as well as room service. We ate at all four areas and the food was consistently good as was the service. We also had breakfast each day in the restaurant which had a good range of food and drink. The staff were exceptional and friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Overall an amazing stay. "
