The property was closed when we arrived. The sign said closed for 2 years for remodeling. You can imagine our shock to find out the room we paid for was unavailable.

Awful room service, ancient rooms.

Probably one of the worst hotels I have stayed in Paris and I travel every month. The room and bathroom were ancient. I have stayed in other hotels that are dated but well kept, this was not the case. I ordered room-service as I felt unwell to move around, the burger was cold and tasting terrible. I had therefore had chips for dinner and left the entire burger to be collected. When I complained to reception that this was unacceptable for the price, he said I would have to submit a complaint - I find this completely inconvenient and if the hotel is reading this please refund me the € for this cold, tasteless burger.

it pains me to write these negative remarks. first, I would like to mention that there staff is incredibly helpful, respectful and pleasant. however, the hotel is in a desperate need for a complete overhaul, the first night I was given a shoe box to sleep in!!!. the staff was courteous to upgrade me to another room that was large. the carpet and décor are run down, inoperable plugs & lights, black dust covers the air vent, dust on upper shelf of tv !!! etc. this hotel should not be sold as 5 star maybe 3 star only. sorry to tell you this. but you have a long list before you call this hotel luxury !!!!

The reception staff is terrible, but otherwise the hotel is great. Unfortunately until they change the reception staff, we cannot recommend this hotel. Here are the positives: - great location - nice breakfast - rooms are small but spacious enough. Also very authentic parisian Negatives: - the reception staff is so bad that they ruined our entire hotel stay, especially the lady Varvara. - when we checked in after a long flight, you'd hope for a polite and courteous staff. Unfortunately we got the opposite. Varvara made us feel like she's doing us a favor by letting us stay in the hotel. Hmm, last I checked we paid for it. - we asked for a few recommendations multiple times - cruise, cafes, etc. Everytime they'd tell us that they'll research and get back. But guess how many times we heard back. Yep. Zero. We eventually stopped following up and just pulled up our laptops and did research. Thankfully they had fast internet! Anyway, this hotel is totally worth recommending but when you are on a vacation, you hate to be mistreated.. And unfortunately that's what Varvara did to us here. On the way out, Varvara confronted us as to why we wrote a negative check in review on Expedia. We explained to her about the recommendations we had asked for multiple times, but instead of apologizing she attacked us back saying that they have more positive reviews than negative and it's our problem that we didn't have a good experience at the hotel. Huh?

Impressed.

Beautiful old building tastefully restored. Welcoming staff were awesome. Location is great. Room was incredible, received an upgrade and I was very impressed. However, it was quite expensive, the breakfast menu was quite limited (but the dining room is impressive) and one thing that really bothered me was that all the cooking staff went out on strike, the kitchen was closed and we were not told. People are literally knocking on the door for a coffee to no answer. This could have been communicated better to guests.
