This property was likely very beautiful many years ago when it first opened and the highlight photos were taken but it has clearly been neglected for some time. Neither the rooms nor the property were as clean and sufficiently stocked with necessities as I would expect. The beds were not comfortable, WiFi was spotty, and linens seemed old and lacking freshness. The only upsides were the ac worked well and the few staff members we encountered tried to be helpful. If you do still decide to stay here and you want to order food for children, do not order the pizza. You will be disappointed. Other food options were okay. Thankfully, we only stayed one night. My family and I were very disappointed so I want to make sure future Expedia users know what they’re getting into. Expedia should require property hosts to post photos within the last year or two.

The beach area is beautiful and the food taste good. However here’s a few things that was a hard NO during my stay 1)Same food service for breakfast, lunch and dinner ( Also limited options and lack of non Spanish dishes) 2) Power outings the resort had several power outages during my stay, 3) Poor customer services from staff on resort no greeting if you didn’t speak 1st 4) very limited staff spoke English 5) No hot water for showers 6) limited activities for non Spanish speaking guest 7) Bar in room no alcohol just water and cook soda. Finally everything was not exclusive as advertised. For brand alcohol and seafood dishes you had to pay out of pocket. I will not be returning!!

Everything about this adults only hidden gem is magnificent. The staff. The food. The go out of their way to make everything better.

Our stay at Gran Bahia Principe Portillo unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The rooms are extremely outdated and definitely in need of renovation. One of the biggest issues was the pungent smell coming from the sink, which was unbearable at times and made it difficult to feel comfortable in the room. On a positive note, the workers at the buffet were very friendly and welcoming. The staff at the two specialty restaurants we visited were also great and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, despite the friendly staff and good service in certain areas, the overall experience did not exceed—or even meet—our expectations. We were disappointed with the condition of the rooms and the overall quality of the property. Based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again.
