Quiet, Quaint, and Close to the Beach!

The Ruff Seas was originally built as a fisherman’s cottage after hurricane Hazel. The house is on the woodland side of the island and a quick 7 minute walk to beach. This lot has an extra relaxed feel, as a neighboring lot is undeveloped. The cottage sits back from the street. Behind a picket fence is the porch and it is truly wonderful with floor to ceiling screening and unobstructed views of the flora and fauna.
coming in off the porch you enter a very comfortable and open living area that flows into a huge dining table and kitchen beyond.
There are so many extras..... A Carport to bring the groceries in when it rains or to put new wax on your surfboard. Outdoor shower to rinse off you and the seashells. Gas grill to prepare that fresh caught flounder.
Please come enjoy the pleasures of quiet relaxed island living!

Great place to stay
The home was as it appears in the photos. We loved the screened in porch. The home was clean and had a lot of amenities. The neighborhood is quiet. The only draw back was the actual distance to the ocean- you could walk it- but you have to cross a busy road. We were lucky enough to have family also visiting that had a rental that was beach front- so we didn’t have to make that walk or have to pay for parking if we drove over to the public parking. This was our first time here/ so I was not familiar with the area. The owner does provide a beach wagon- so if you have to walk to the beach that is helpful. Overall this home was very nice and clean and would recommend. The owner was available and responded quickly to any questions or concerns.

Perfect little cottage
My sister and I enjoyed our get-away at Oak Island. This house was perfect for the 2 of us. We LOVED the setting, and practically lived on the front porch. The house is well furnished and the kitchen has everything you would need for your stay.

We Loved It!
The cottage was quiet, comfortable, well organized and we appreciated the nice touches like, herbal teas, spices, nice shampoo and conditioner, bedding, flowering plants, etc. Everything was clean and fresh. Outdoor shower was awesome!

Perfect spot and so many details added to make your stay better!
Sheets, blankets, towels, beach gear, kitchen is loaded. Amazing coffee maker, perfect porch, bathroom is stocked, don’t pack a hair dryer, shampoo or body wash!. (Pack conditioner) Everything you need! I’d stay here over and over again. A straight shot to the main road (about a block) then half a block over to the south side (beach row homes) Rented a golf cart but it was too chilly on our trip. Summer time… rent a golf cart from sea dog rentals. I hope this place continues to beat the prices on all the others. Ruff seas is adorable and comfy! Planning our next stay asap.

Wonderful House and Owner.
Absolutely loved staying here. The owner was kind and communicative, and had everything we needed there. The house is in a good location as well and was just beautiful. If you're thinking of staying at Oak Island definitely consider staying here!

Great little getaway
Lovely little place. Very clean and comfortable. Very well provisioned, really quiet location. We did end up driving to the beach just because the main road is so busy and we have two young kids (and parking is free until April 1). We had a great time and would stay again. Especially loved the front porch and all the little toys and puzzles for kids. Thanks Craig!
