*A perfect place to be! Rick & I pride ourselves in offering you a unique and well kept cottage and we will make sure that everything is perfect for your visit. The cottage remodel was completed in 2019 and we have had wonderful guests. The area is beautiful, the views of Deception Pass are exceptional, and this is a fabulous destination to enjoy all year round! If your planned vacation time is already taken, think about looking at our calendar for next year.
*Nestled in the trees, the cottage is a special retreat on the water’s edge of Deception Pass. The layout takes advantage of the stunning water views from the kitchen, dining area, both bedrooms, livingroom and TV room. Wildlife is abundant around your home away from home and they can be very entertaining. As you walk onto the upper deck, you will be so close to the water that you may hear the seals exhale and the bald eagles call to their mates. There are three levels in the cottage, with steps from the easy parking area. EV240 and 120 outlets are available for your car charging needs (no RVs). WiFi and Direct TV, too. Sorry, but no children, pets, RVs or smoking on the property.
*We suggest that you take advantage of the many hiking trails in our area and the whale watching boat tours that are offered. The cottage is close to the hiking trails at Deception Pass State Park, additional local hiking can be found at Washington Park, on Mount Erie and The Tommy Thomson Trail. The State’s very popular tourist attraction is the Deception Pass Bridge, viewed from the cottage water’s edge and a perfect view can be seen from inside the boathouse. This magnificent bridge is only a 5 minute drive away. Of course, there are many more activities and places to have a great time in Anacortes. The harborside marinas are fun to walk through and our delightful downtown is full of fabulous restaurants, bars and great shopping. On the kitchen table, you will find a detailed manual with information to help you easily decide where to go and suggestions of things to do in the area. The boathouse instructions are located in the Cottage Manual, too.
*Check out the ‘Anacortes Now’ website for the calendar of events in Anacortes. Summers are full of events and festivals that are a ton of fun to go to.
*The Tulip Festival, in the Skagit Valley, runs the entire month of April. The fields are just a 20 minute drive from the cottage. The show gardens and tulip fields are beautiful and a feast for the eyes. The flowers are stunning and the tulips & daffodils make for gorgeous photos.
*For a fun day, take the San Juan Island Ferry, located just west of the city of Anacortes. You will have a perfect day’s outing, visiting one or more of the San Juan Islands to our north. Or, take the Guemes Ferry, located in town, and explore Guemes Island. Being out on the water is an experience that you will want to share with friends. The destinations are gorgeous and they have very interesting stories about their beginnings.
The cottage is 12 - 15 minutes away from two large grocery stores, Safeway and The Market, which are both in downtown Anacortes. There is a small market, Harold’s, and it is less than a 5 minute drive, on Hwy 20. Walking to Harold’s would be fun, too. There are lots of really darling shops in downtown Anacortes and those are a 15 minute drive from the cottage. La Conner, also, has a bunch of cute shops, like Anacortes, and it is a 25 minute drive from the cottage.
*Easy drives to both Seattle (just a 1 1/2 hour drive) and the Canadian border is about an hour drive from the cottage. Remember to bring your passport if you plan on a trip to Canada.
*Rick and I are looking forward to ensuring that your stay will delight you and we know that wonderful memories will be made. We will be so pleased if you choose this very special retreat.
