Let’s be honest, Luxury in Italy doesn’t necessarily mean the same as it does in the US. This is a top price hotel near the airport but the room is small (the bathroom by scale is large). Lots of upcharges and not many options for food or drinks. Breakfast was expensive but a nice buffet. The thing everyone complains about regarding everyone in white robes was true (and cultish!). There are lot’s of non-hotel guests on the property to use the spas. We didn’t use the spas as we were only staying to fly out the next day. Getting there from airport is onerous - a 25 Euro taxi (1.8 mile trip) or an 8 Euro shuttle (per person), but no help in arranging. If you call the hotel they’ll make you call the shuttle yourself from the airport (and yet they can make the return reservation for you).
I think what separates true luxury is “service” and this place does not bend over backwards for guests. Staff seems small and not concerned with the “details” that make true luxury. 4-star at best.

the location is this hotel's strongest attribute. Very pleasant place located in close walking distance to the forum, pantheon, and Trevi fountain but also off the main streets.
The access is via smaller allies which insulate most of the city bustle, but you're then half a block from two major streets.
Rooms are clean and well kept; a bit small by American standards but more than adequate.
The staff were friendly and helpful with local recommendations. Only issue we had was being able to hail cabs. Found it harder than we expected, and even when the front desk called we had a few incidents where there were "none available". Fortunately, if you've some stamina you can walk to most things a tourist would want to see.
For price and convenience of location, we'd stay again.
