"Our room smelled of cigarette smoke, the wash basin was cracked, the furniture was chipped, and the decor very tired the several areas of the property needed decorating and maintenance especially the ceiling in the lounge which was very stained with a water leakage.
The breakfast was very good and staff were very helpful."

"We stayed only stayed 1 night at Houghton Hall but will be going back. Our room was in the original part of the hall and had character and charm, with the wooden shutters on the windows, wonky floors and cornicing. The room was clean and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. If you like modern buildings and new decorations then this is not the place for you. The building could do with a little updating in areas, but that could take away from its charm."
