First and foremost great value! We had the deluxe suite which had two queen beds and a private attached bathroom. Perfect for a group of women traveling! Clean room and the staff was quick to respond when we needed more bathroom supplies.
Very clean and nice hostel for anyone looking for a place to stay in the Downtown LA area. Conveniently five minutes from downtown and very easy check in and check out process. Definitely recommend booking at Forty-First place hostel!
Nice experience, everyone helpful and firendly.
Process of checking in worked well, excpet the first code didnt work. After aoncukting the support hotline eveything worked fine.
The appartment was clean but small. The ac was a bit noisy but nothing too bad.
Oberall good experience. Can recommend
Wonderful Vibe , Quiet Location , Love the Aesthetic inside the room , lovely hot water ! Parking is a challenge but overall the stay overrides that ! Definitely would book again
Amazing! What went well?
I was very pleased with my stay at Forty First Place Boutique Hotel in Los Angeles. We enjoyed the deluxe room with a balcony-it was extremely clean and immaculate. Housekeeping consistently showed great care and attention to cleanliness, with fresh sheets and a very welcoming atmosphere. Overall, great vibes and a comfortable stay. We will definitely book again.
Very Clean and gantastic and d service. Quiet with good parking away from the neighbood, which sees s tame me as well. I have stayed twice and would not go back if it wasn't quality. In a world where Sevice has been forgotten, they excel
Clean & Great for my weekend stay!
Was in town for a bodybuilding competition, and this was just minutes from the LA convention center which is where I needed to be during most of the days I spent in LA.
I really appreciated the staff that went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome. They even offered to store my luggage so I didnโt have to deal with packing day of my comp which was the day I was scheduled to check out.
Communication was quick the one time I had a question regarding the room which is something I didnโt expect being it was a self-check in establishment and the only staff I saw were the housekeepers which by the way work super hard to keep the place clean each day.
Thank you for making my visit to LA super smooth and easy and most of all, affordable. ๐
I stayed for 3 days at 615 1/2 room # 2 on the 2nd floor
with detached private restroom. The place is nice, but it was very dirty, the floors were full of dust, it looked like they haven't cleaned the floors in a while, the blankets smelled so bad like armpit plus the pillows, no towels provided. The water pressure for the shower was extremely low, and it took a long time for the water to get hot. Also, while cooking, the fire alarm went off multiple times even though i was only boiling water to make noodles. The parking is terrible, its first come first serve but even so i was told by some guy that blocked me off that "I took his parking" I would not recommend.

Access code didn't work when we got there after midnight. Not a good feeling. Bathroom door didn't close. Toile paper hanger fell off the hook and never got fixed. And there was an incident with a woman who claimed to be the housekeeper knocking on our door and apparently looking for someone but never answered me what or who she was looking for. And a few seconds later she told someone downstairs she was going to call the police. I messaged the administration team and expressed I felt unsafe. No answer. So, I called them and they said the'll look into that. They did and said everuthing was OK. Appslarently there was an intruder at the door.
Overall, the room was big, the bed comfortable and the bathroom cleaned. It was nice to have a full kitchen with a fridge too. We liked the close proximity to the BMO stadium, for we were at LA for a concert there.
The place was very convenient and close to the LA Coliseum. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you needed, and nothing you didn't need. The area is in an area that is slowly getting gentrified, so temper expectations on the location. If you are expecting a bourgeois place, you're not going to get that here. You're getting a bed, a hot shower and a shared kitchen -perfect for short term stays. I always felt safe in the area. When you check in, make sure you get a code for the front door and a code for your room. Parking is non-existent, but that's to be expected in LA, which is why rideshares are suggested. Overall, I liked this place and would stay again.
We really liked the location near the colleseum. We like that it was convient easy and affordable. Honestly I misread "hostel" as hotel, but was really pleasantly surprised when I saw it was a hostel but this nice. Your area is private and comfortable and it's great if you are doing things in the city all day. Great place to lay your head down.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Though the room wasn't ready for 30 minutes, the staff was so friendly and helpful. We really liked the style of the rooms and the joint room was nice and spacious. There wasn't a trash can in the room but we had our own little trash bag so that was fine. Also, there weren't any paper towels or hand towels in the kitchen. It was nice having a lot of space in the closet but a few more hangers would be really nice. I also don't think my bedroom sheets were washed because there were body oil stains on the sheets along with body glitter and they didn't smell very good. My throw blanket was also really dirty. Neither of us slept really well because there was a very loud and profane argument right outside the balcony window and the hotel staff had a lot to deal with in that regard. Overall, it was a great location to stay and we felt at home.
Forty first place is clean, comfortable beds, quiet atmosphere, WiFi works great, and close to eateries. Management responds to any questions in a timely manner.
This hostel is very clean and tidy. Probably the cleanest I've seen in my life. Even the kitchen was clean and had everything I needed to cook a simple dinner. The room is cozy with new furniture. Although it says there is no parking, I messaged the front desk and they allowed me to park on the property for a small fee. Seems like they allow it if there is availability.
Very clean but cold with no ability to change temperature. I tried to use the oven veggie I even put anytime in every fire alarms went off on the floor. The cleanliness was amazing but I can't stand being cold for no reason. Also the bathroom smelled like mold after showering.
They need to improve check-in process. I had to contact them to get the instructions. Guy at the office forgot to send me room code & wifi info. Posh, new looking hostel but kitchen sink has some mold. Very clean bathroom. Firm mattress. Standard queen room is overpriced consid. how small it is & neighborhood isn't great. But I had a huge closet & house is walking distance to BMO Stadium & USC.
โ๏ธ Location is convenient and accessible - close to Koreatown and there are ample amount of shops around the area. Place is beautifully decorated. Towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. There is also a common area such as dining and kitchen. Kitchen is well stuffed with cutleries and appliances which will allow you to cook should you want to. Owner/Customer Service was very quick to respond when you have queries. Also doors have its own digital locks and the code will be given to you on the day of your arrival so you dont need to worry about keys/key cards.
โ๏ธ Looks clean but not clean enough - floor is quite dirty and the towels and pillows have a smell like sweat that was left on. Soundproofing is not that good - you can hear the doors, footsteps, shower drain and toilet flushes from the room on top of you most especially. You can also hear noises from the outside like barking dogs. There is airconditioning which is centralised but the thermostat can be controlled by anyone. At one point it was set by someone to 77F (25C) when the temp outside was around 80sF (30sC) which quite frankly, beats the purpose of it.
Overall it was a decent stay for its price.
Your building manager is much much more than the title implies. The service from Mike and Cassandra went way above and beyond what people would expect more like a personal concierge the room was exceptional, clean neat and tidy. This is a little gem of a place in an otherwise sea of customer service people have forgotten.
