This was my second stay at Hotel Phi. The location cannot be beat! I stayed in one of the apartments and it was an excellent experience - the kitchen was well-appointed for basic needs during my stay and the staff was immediately responsive to a small issue with the hot water one morning. I will definitely plan to stay here again during my next visit to Bologna.

We stayed at Hotel del Borgo for one night before an early flight out of Bologna, and unfortunately, it was easily the worst accommodation of our entire trip through Italy. First, the room we received was not what we booked. We reserved a room with one double or queen bed but were given a room with a queen and an additional twin bed. The room looked nothing like the photos online and was incredibly dated and disappointing. The biggest concern was the bathroom, which had what appeared to be mold covering the ceiling and other surfaces. It was disgusting and made us question the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel. There were also no small bottles of shampoo or shower toiletries provided, and the hand towels were so thin they felt more like disposable table napkins. The room was unbearably warm. The hotel uses central heating set to 23°C (73°F), and the thermostat doesn’t actually allow you to control the temperature. We were told to keep the bathroom door closed because the heated floors made the room even hotter. Our choices were essentially to roast in the room or open the windows and deal with mosquitoes. The refrigerator made a constant, repetitive pulsing noise, which was especially irritating when trying to sleep. The Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby, not in our room. There was no coffee provided, just a kettle and two packets of tea. Despite online listings advertising a bar/lounge, the front desk confirmed

The property could be difficult, if you are in the wheelchair or if you have trouble walking. The first floor has many up and down stairs, and it is inconvenient if you have disabilities or older and out of shape. Perhaps indicating accessibility my help. Bar and restaurant is nice, but accessibility is though a small door and up stairs. Not ideal. They do have an entrance outside from sidewalk. You cannot beat being in the center of Bologna steps from the piazza.
